  • If i had an ipod I would load it with every red hot chili peppers song known to man... I always forget about the RHCP's and that just sucks because they just rock

one sample of thier rockage... Under the Bridge... another is Give it away...

im sorry but im not sure what you mean by lo fi stuff...

a great and completely opposite band is The Russian Futurists... and they have a wonderful song called "Paul Simon"... its kinda like synth pop... and plus thier Torontonian... and also plus the vid rocks...
  • The Unicorns.
    Sondre Lerche
    Sublime,
    Ok Go (of course)
    Blind Melon,
    The Shins,
    Travis,
    Rufus,
    ...?
  • My favourite band after OK Go is Franz Ferdinand. Both of their albums are really good. (Though You Could Have It So Much Better is really starting to grow on me. And someone seriously need to pull an MTV smash-up with "Do You Want To" and "Do What You Want." Alex Kopranos and Damian Kulash singing on the same track would just be sweet.) You can also go to franzferdinand.org and download a bunch of free live and demo recordings.

Two of my other favourites are The Sun and Scamper, both of whom have opened for OK Go. The Sun's latest album, Blame It On The Youth, is really nifty, because it's actually a DVD with music vids for al 14 songs on it, and then you can pop the DVD into your computer and rip the songs on to your iPod, and they won't get pissed. And Scamper's Leave Your Glasses On is pure college pop rock goodness, and they're really cool guys, too.
  • Remixes rock thats why I'm going to suggest "Guerolito" by beck and "Romance Bloody Romance" by Death from Above 1979... If you don't know who Death from above 1979 is check out their CD "You're a Woman, I'ma Machine" they rock.

Oh ya I have to say this awesome track Called "Your Ex-lover is dead" By Stars... One of the awesomest songs i've ever heard. It's softer then Beck and DFA1979.

"Your Ex-Lover Is Dead" by STARS

By "lo fi" do you mean soft? Sorry I'm Pretty lame when it comes to music vocab.

Everyone listen to that STARS song... It will rock your socks.
  • Violent Femmes (start with Add it Up and Kiss Off)
    The 88
    I second Sondre Lerche
Green Day (Warning is my fav. CD and I'm not really an American Idiot fan... stick with International Superhits?)
Big D and the Kids Table (hoorah ska)
    The Dandy Warhols
    The New Pornographers
Gogol Bordello (takes some getting used to but, cummon, gypsy punk? Whee)
    Alkaline Trio
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
    Swingin' Utters

...I must note, I have a weird taste in music... so be warned?
  • You all don't want me to list my favorite bands, it would take all day. Or I could just copy and paste my list from my myspace page, but it's too long.

    I'll just name a few.

    OK Go
    The Redwalls
    Kings of Leon
    The Beatles
    Franz Ferdinand
    The Who
    The Doors
    Violent Femmes
    The Blue Van
    Shout Out Louds
    The Gun Shys
    . . . .

That's more than a few, but you get the general idea. wink.gif

  • If you're looking for something cheesy and guilty-ridden (because it's a swedish rock band) --- go for Mando Diao. I love them to pieces. Don't hate.

Other than that: I'm seconding Yo La Tengo, Elliot Smith, The Redwalls and New Pornographers.

Ooh. Maria Taylor for bedtime songs. And Beulah and Sufjan Stevens for chill music too.

    Hope that helps.
