MA show in April?

edited November -1 in OK Go
First off,let me say, this is my first time posting a topic here,so if you find the topic completely ridiculous and irrelevant or too far fetched, feel free to delete it.

In other news,I was browsing around www.pollstar.com the other day,and decided to search for OKGO,well, all the shows matched up with the shows page on the official site except for -

Thu 04/27/06 Wellesley, MA Wellesley College

Any news about if this has been confirmed or not? Pollstar, from my experience, seems to be pretty correct most of the time, but I was just wondering because I'm from around the area and if this is going to happen,I'd like to attend.

Also,I checked the college's website and saw nothing stated about it(or,since the last time I checked, which was a few days ago, admittedly) but in general are the shows held at colleges for those who attend the school only?

Thanks.

  • Normally college shows offer the tickets to the students first and for a discounted price, but they will (if there are tickets left) go on sale to the general public ..at least that's how my school works.
  • They DID do that secret show in MN so I wouldn't put it past them.

Wellesley??? They're doing a show for the Wellesley girls???? First Wellelsey steals our alums, now they're geting OK Go.... mad.gif tongue.gif

Ahh, well. I think I have Dems friends who go to Wellesley, maybe I'll round up a few of us out here at MoHo and Smith and go out there...
  • Haha, Damian's mom went to Wellesley.

    Oh. Well, that makes sense.

Smith is still awesomer than Wellesley. tongue.gif
  • ^ my parents want me to start looking at colleges soon. I'm open to suggestions, so you can try and persuade me all you want.

blech. I'm only a sophomore, for christ's sake!

howev, I'm supposed to have been "thinking" about college since 8th grade, when my older bro started looking at places.

my aunt and uncle used to live in wellesley, for about six months.

Also (actually on topic, yay!) , my friend offered to buy me tickets to a show in April for my b-day, so I really hope this is true. really really.

    Smith Smith Smith Smith Smith!!!

Actually, totally seriously, you should really check out the 5 Colleges (Smith, MoHo, Amherst, Hampshire, and UMass- but I'm sure you knew that already wink.gif ), especially if you're planning on staying in-state. All five of them are really awesome, you can take classes at any of the five, it's a really great system.

Yay! I really want to go. But the problem is finding a way out there and back. And I think I have a paper due the next day. And it's the day before my wind ensemble concert, and it's highly likely that senior banquet will be around then. Blargh. I really want to round up some of my co-MoHo fans and wear t-shirts that say "The 7 Sisters <3 OK Go." 'Cause I'm a dork like that.
  • yeah. about those rides. I don't even drive yet, and none of my friends do, so uhhh... o well. Plus, there's lots of shows in April, so I could also be going to Franz and Death Cab, or the Strokes, or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

My parents are definitely gonna make me look at those five colleges. And I do want to stay within New England, and maybe NY.

haha, the jazz ensemble had a big competition today, so us lowly concert-banders got left behind while our teacher guy went off with his beloved jazz kids. We didn't even get a sub or anything, he was just like " ok, just don't leave the band hall, and don't disturb the chamber singers. Bye!!"

I wish I was in jazz, but flutes don't get enough respect as a jazz instrument. jazz floutists are really cool.

    Reaction/advice:

    1) I'm glad I don't have your parents.

    2) Really, really, really consider taking time off after high school. Sounds like you'll have to go ahead and apply and such to please your folks, but you can always defer enrollment. You will benefit from being out of school in ways you can't imagine, and there's no disadvantage to postponing school by a year or two.

    3) If you think you might go to a professional school, don't waste money on undergrad. There's nothing wrong with public schools- and if you want to get ambitious about it, going to a less hardcore school for undergrad helps you stand out from the crowd for grad admissions.

    4) Since this is technically in the OK Go forum....Watch Jimmy Kimmel tonight!

    SO TRUE. Yay flutes. biggrin.gif

I'm going to see Franz/Death Cab in NYC in April, I'm sooooooo excited. This is the second Franz concert I'm going to, and I just recently discovered Death Cab, and I LOVE them, so I'm way excited.

It would be way awesome to see OK Go, too, because I'd get to see my two fave bands in the same month. Again.
  • yeah.... it would be pretty awesome, but knowing me, I'll never get my act together and go.

well, I can dream. at least they're visiting the NE area lots, that's very cool; it gives me hope for the future.

Yeah, definitely. I was really upset when I found out that they're dropping from the MCS tour right before the NE leg (which is incidentally during my spring break tongue.gif), but I got to see them in Boston again in January, so that made up for it.

I really really really hope they're not doing a continental Europe tour this summer, and put that off 'til the fall. I know they're going back to the UK this month, but nothing's posted for April onward, and Damian mentioned doing a European tour, and when I talked to Tim last time and told him that I'd be in Paris for next school year, he said, "We might be over there with you." But if they hit Paris before I get there in October, I'm going to be soooooooooooo sooooooooo upset. Sooooooooo upset.
  • Double post, wooo!

    So I just found out...

OK GO IS PLAYING NORTHAMPTON AGAIN ON APRIL 26TH!!!! EEEEEEEEE!!!! *WAY HAPPY DANCE*

I only have two minor complaints:
    1) It's at Pearl St. again (thank God, I hated the Calvin...), but it's in the ballroom this time. It's a great venue, but it's much larger than the downstairs, which is far more intimate and which is where I saw the guys for the first time last March.
    2) Tix are $15, which is $5 more than they usually are in NoHo. tongue.gif But still, extremely reasonable.

Oh man. Oh man oh man oh man.

I just hope that they don't finish out their east coast tour for the summer that week. It's right before finals starts and I'd hate to miss being able to do a road trip again.

    Ah,that's amazing!
    *dancesalong*
I've never been to Pearl St.,as a matter of fact, but I was at the last North Hampton show, too, and I'd have to agree that the venue pretty much stunk. So,I'm glad that the venue's better.
After drilling OKGo into my friend's music libraries for the past few months,I can just imagine the teenie screams I'll be enduring tomorrow when I tell them OKGo is coming back here. tongue.gif
  • I'll have to make it out ..Sarah can lend me her floor tongue.gif

YES YOU DO. You could always crash on my floor or Meghan's floor, too. Whatever works.

And it would be way awesome if we could get to both the NoHo AND the Wellsley show...that would make my day...

Also, are you up for being a fan correspondant with me? I think I'm going to apply to Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore for that. I think I can rent funky equipment and software from Smith's film department.

Yeah, the Calvin is really nice, but it is NOT the right venue for OK Go. First off, the people at the Calvin are like, anti-dancing. Which kind of makes you want to yell, "BUT THE SONG IS CALLED 'DO WHAT YOU WANT'!!!!" Also, the sound system really sucked for OK Go that night. I could hear a lot of noise and Tim, and kind of heard Damian. And Damian's voice was totally NOT up to par that night.

So, yeah. Pearl St. is way nice. I saw OK Go when they played the downstairs last March, and then I saw the Dropkick Murphys in the ballroom on my birthday. It's a much better venue. And it's not like, $30 like the Calvin.

I really really wish they would play the Iron Horse, though. It's such a tiny venue, and it would probably be totally impractical, esepcially for the dance because the stage is soooo small, but you can get soooooo close to the stage without even trying. (Also, I found out where the door to the "backstage" area is downstairs...hee hee...)
  • Elley! It's Kaylee! =o

Anyway, hope you get to go to the show, hon!
  • Hmmm. So I'm doing some detective work here.

We know that OK Go is hitting Northampton on April 26th and Wellesley on the 27th, as well as like, two other shows in April.

Beyond that, we don't know what's going on in April. It's possible that they'll just play those few shows, OR add some more, my guess would be east coast date.

And now there are May dates posted for TX and NY. Apparently they're touring with She Wants Revenge.

She Wants Revenge is scheduled to play at Pearl St. in NoHo on May 26th, according to the Iron Horse website.

We've also heard that they're supposed to play in Boston on the 18th, which would make sense.

So basically, it seems like they're set up to do some stuff on the east coast in May with SWR. But the weird thing is, only a few of the dates listed on the SWR website actually match up to OK Go's, and according to their site, they're touring with Depeche Mode.

So, really, I'm just confusing myself.
