nocturnal?

edited November -1 in General Discussion
i feel weird being a newbie starting a topic. but...i'm bored.

so...i think i'm turning nocturnal. i'm not really sure if this is a good thing because i end up sleeping at like 5am and waking up at 830am for class. anyway, i've gotten pretty set in this schedule and haven't been able to shake it for...ohh the past 6months or so. staying up late is pretty nice except for the fact that:

1. late night tv SUCKS
2. UCSD is NOT in a college town so there's nowhere to go past like 1am unless you have a car
3. i don't drink/smoke/etc. and i have no desire to start anytime soon (so all those activities are out)
4. i'm INCREDIBLY bored...so bored that i've resorted to watching infomercials.

so...just wondering if you guys stay up super late, and if so, what you do to keep entertained.

  • I listen to "Murder By Death"

They have such beautiful music, and it usually puts me to sleep, but they rock so I shouldn't really say that...

    Otherwise I talk to myself.

It looks freaky I guess, some wierd teenage girl sitting on her bed talking to a stuffed Minnie Mouse and a Boo (monsters inc) doll. But it really gives you something to do... wink.gif
  • i used to be that way, but now ive got a job ive got to be up at 7am so i need at least 7 hours sleep

shame you dont get quizmania, as thats what kept me going
  • ooh i really like "murder by death" (thanks! i love finding new music to listen to)

is quizmania a tv show? (haha i'm picturing like that show that hugh grant watched in about a boy)

my friend and i started watching a bunch of movies to overcome the boredom. (tonight was "shaun of the dead"...absolutely hilarious!) and yeah...i guess yahoo games has been kinda good too. i'm glad that i found this board though. yay! fun people to bug with my stupid random thoughts. (though i'll try to keep them to a minimum)
  • quizmania is a late night quiz tv show that used to be on 1-4

    it was amazing..
  • it moved to ITV2 andy smile.gif
  • yeah im aware of its moving ness my dear jen

but i dont have itv2 in my room =(
  • is it a show that is similar to Jeopardy? I wish they'd have late night quiz shows on here.
  • I'm an insomniac so I really can relate to this thread. I find that late at night it's better to be on the computer. This board is a nice place to be because when I'm up late at night, my British friends are just waking up. I've found that Jewelery Television is really addictive late night tv, but maybe I'm the only one that gets a kick out of a grab bag of jems for $99.

ooh! gems! maybe it's the shiny colors that are captivating you not to go to sleep, they're secretly hypnotizing you and saying buy me buy me for only $99.00! I thought they were $.99 cents. psh. such a rip off! Do they sell anything else? i'm a recovering insomniac...I liked watching the swivel sweeper, and the pocket grill thing? the one that looks like a waffle machine but it made whatever "hot pocket" type food that you wanted...yeah. and the Ronco meat spinner thing really grossed me out at one point... and I hate Proactive infomercials. they're too cheesy. too much soft lighting skills for me...

have you ever bought anything from an infomerical?
  • nope... wait. I take that back, my parents have the Jack LaLaine juicer but we bought it somewhere else, not off the TV... yeah, they all say "call within the next 15 mins and you'll get all this extra crap!" I don't really trust infomercials very much, the hostesses are always overhyping the products, they're very scary if they're like that in real life...
  • when its early and im the only one up..
    i make things.
im good with my hands and it wastes hours.
  • what do you make girlinthedark? May I ask?
  • What about The Magic Bullet????? Man, that thing is pretty sweet! On Jewelery Television they also sell rings and such for incredibley low prices.
  • read or sew... only hand sewing though... machine sewing has to be done during the day, as my machine tends to frustrate me to the point of cussing at it... as if that'll make it work right...

oh yeah! the magic bullet, they make things super fast to make it look super easy have you noticed? and the tastetesters are all actors! They're funny, the guy that says "Broccoli! Ewww. I HATE broccoli!" and makes a disgusted face. He's a 40 yr. old bald guy... I just find it funny.

Do you know how to knit? I've always wanted to learn. I have needles and yarn, but all the books I've read don't work because I'm a visual person.

cool! you sew? I wish I knew how to use the machine. Is it hard to learn as a beginner? Hand sewing takes me forever!!! so I retreat to trying to knit...
