June 8 Austin Show
I went to the show only to see OK GO. I even had my robot drawing ready to go, but after waiting over an hour, I gave up on them coming out. Not to mention it was PAINFUL listening to She Wants Revenge. I saw on the gallery today some pics that looked like they came out...what gives? How did I miss them?? Did anyone else think the sound was kind of crappy--totally not their fault of course.

Yes, I got there about ten minutes before OK GO started. Then I hung around for an hour and twenty minutes AFTER their set because they always come out and sign autographs, take pics, etc. But they never came out while I was there, unless I just totally missed them. I am so bummed! So I was trying to find out from someone else who was there if they saw them and where??
Well, a lot of times, they don't come out till after SWR's set (so you'd have to wait over an hour). At my show, Dan was the only who came out during SWR's set, and that's because he needed a beer. The rest of the guys came out only after the set, and Damian was in the back.

Thanks for the info. I think I've just lucked out when I've seen them before pretty quickly after their set. I recently got to finally get a pic with them, but even though it's on flickr and properly tagged, it won't show up on the website. I think I don't have enough pics on flickr or something. At any rate, I'm too old to be acting this way about a band...but I can't seem to help it! My birthday card signed by Damian is a prized possession. Their next show here in Austin already sold out and I do not have tickets. Another bummer.

Anyway, I'm sorry that you missed them! I know that Damian, Tim, and Dan all came out after the show, 'cause Kikky and Karleigh were there. (Although they've barely told me ANYTHING about what happened.) That's terribly disappointing.

Andy didn't come out because he was "sick," but Kikky and I saw the real reason....
OK, OK, I'll share our experiences.
So, we got there about 2 1/2 hours before the gate opened (yes gate, it was an outdoor venue), and as I was trying to find a parking spot, we saw Damian crossing the street toward the parking lot we were pulling out of. All our beliefs that we were no longer fan girls were killed then and there, as Kikky and I start FLIPPING OUT. Thank goodness the windows were rolled up and he was on the phone not paying attention to us. Then we got in line and made friends with the people in front and behind us. I must say, my belief that all OK Go fans are the same is now shockingly becoming more true. So, this newly bonded group of about 15 people (including Kaylee, who btw is AWESOME) with varying ages decided to stick together the ENTIRE concert, vowing that if any of us got invited to the after party, we'd all go. Then we got inside and all rushed to the front of the stage. The concert was awesome because we convinced this girl Effie to get Damian whiskey. She had the brilliant idea to write the request on guitar picks (I came up with one of the puns) and give them to the boys. I ended up telling her to give them to Mike, and then the rest is history. The Lashes were AWESOME! All of the guys are so cool and nice, I recommend everyone go see them. After OK Go, we all went to the merch stand so we could get the BRAND NEW OK GO SHIRTS: it was the first day they were on sale, and they are SWEET. Then we just hung out with The Lashes and waited for the guys to come out. Then we found out the Effie got invited to the after party, but it was 21 and up. I have never felt so young in my life. Damian came out first, but we had been waiting about an hour already, then Tim, and Dan came out A LOT later, and only for a little bit. I texted Jen to call and she got to talk to Dan for about 5 minutes or so. Then Dan left pretty quickly after. After SWR finished, the people started to kick us out, so we left. The End.

Awwww! I love bonding with OK Go fans! And I'm telling you, we are ALL THE SAME PERSON. It's like, whatever divine being there is out there got bored halfway through making the first OK Go fangirl and said, "You know what? All of your fangirls are going to be the same, just with different hair colour."
I only have 6.5 months 'til I'm 21! Maybe I'll be invited in Paris, heee.

I'm too hungry to talk about how amazing the concert was, but yes pretty much it was just like Karleigh said. And I remember when Damian was getting out those picks and he was like "someone something something" and before he even finished I heardyou scream "IT WAS ME!!!" .. I think it was you. hehehe. And wow yeah they were fabulous. Bummer that Andy didn't come out, because I had a lot to tell him! Oh well. YES. What a fun show. and YAY for staying until you're kicked out.

Yeah, it sucked that I didn't get to meet them. I have only had one pic taken with them and one time had Damian sign a birthday card that my husband had made for me that pictured Damian on the front. Damian got a kick out of it. Anyway, I also don't have tix to the next show (I didn't know it would sell out so fast) but I think my hubby is going to shell out the cash to get some off of ebay. If we spend that much, I am bound and determined to meet them, talk to them, or get into one of these "after parties". Any tips??
I thought the Austin Stubb's outdoor show was good as far as the band goes, but they got screwed on the sound. Not their fault of course!
