  • Now, are you having a wonderful time, Katy?
I'd never swum in the sea until I went to Oahu, and I learned sea water was so salty for the first time.
  • hehe I learnt that Oahu is where Pearl Harbour was the other day in a pub quiz.... Yeah so hit me, my history lessons only concerned like European things. And that was in school, a looooong time ago lol. And Karleigh, I'll give you my address later on, as I need me some sustinance!
  • I'm hungry too, I hope Katy is eating well in Hawaii.

It kind of hurts, water is heavy when it falls from the sky.

It's at the Grand Walaia Resort and Spa, it's one of a kind. Basically, you enter on the bottom in this metal door. Inside is a circular room that goes up about 15 or 20 feet and is open at the top. You sit on the sides on this seating area that goes all the way around. Then water starts to pour down on top of you and the person manning the elevator pushes on the rock walls to make the seating area spin around slowly and move up the room. When you get to the top, they let you out and you slide down a water slide. It's super fun!
  • A water elevator? Coool
  • did i ever say thank you for the amazing postcard?

    if not..why not damnit..

    thank you muchly!

You possibly may have, but you're very welcome! biggrin.gif

ALSO, I never actually like, told you guys about my trip, did I? Gosh, it was such a long time ago...

Anywho, I had a fun time, even if I was only there for four days. I stayed at the resort 99% of the time ('cause it's a gorgeous resort...you can see it here), though I kind of wish I'd gone and done something on the island, like doing the drive to Hana or something.

Anyway, the first day I was there, I got up, went and sat by the "adult pool" (which actually wasn't as amazing as I'd expected it to be, but it's very pretty- you can see it here- and I was excited because I couldn't go in last time I was there, I was only 15), had a very yummy tuna lunch (mmm, tuna....), and sat by the pool some more. Dinner was at the nearby golf club- it was a "picnic" dinner, and we watched some local band play, and then they put on Elvis's Blue Hawai'i, which is really hilarious to watch with about 1,000 of your dad's drunk co-workers. Some of those lines are such double entendres, and everyone was yelling out at the screen, and then during "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You," it was like one massive sing-along. It was great.

Day two, I went by the pool in the morning, and then spent four hours that afternoon in the spa. It was great. I didn't enjoy my massage so much (she kept poking at my nerves! My nerves don't like me! tongue.gif), but I got to sit in all the aromatherapy pools and the hot tubs. It was fabulous. Then we were supposed to go to Lana'i (I think....?) for dinner, but there was an accident on like, the only road that goes out there from Wailea. This is the problem with living on an island with like, two major roads. Anyway, so we changed reservations and went to dinner at the golf club again, though at the restaurant this time. Mmmm, very yummy, had lobster, it was great.

Day three...more sitting by the pool....reading about The Flaming Lips in an old issue of Filter (I was like, "Man, Denise loves these guys!" the whole time, haha)....that night was the "celebration dinner" which included boozing and schmoozing on the lawn and then a rather boring dinner. *shrugs* They had chocolate fountains with fruit and cookie for dessert though. That was nice.

Day four, sat by the pool for the day before changing up and heading out to the airport. And that's about it, haha.

Oh, also went to the ABC Store. You can't go to Hawai'i and not go to the ABC Store. It's where I got all my postcards. smile.gif (BTW JEN!!!- I still have a postcard for you, but I don't have your address!)

I also took a lot of pics- I had to make four Facebook albums just to fit them all, haha.

A coconut! Or something. It was just sitting outside of somebody's door!

Fish! These fish are EVERYWHERE on the resort. And they're huge. Last time I was there, I babysat for one of my dad's co-workers, and the little boy just loved to stand on the balcony and point at the pond below and go, "Fish! Fish!"

More fish! If you go up to the edge of the ponds, they all swarm up like they think they're going to get fed.
