Wibble. It is true that with Dvd Sets 1 through 8 I can always perve on Michael Shanks, but woe! No more NEW Michael Shanks. If only they could convince RDA to come back... sniff.
Not only do I hate the Season 9 box set for not matching the covers of 1 through 8, but it's just not as gosh-darn pretty with those two random new people on it. I don't think I could ever love them as I have my beloved RDA. Still, it's sad. So very sad.
I've never watched Stargate Atlantis but I dono't feel as though it could ever live up to Stargate. <3<3<3
I hate when things end. I just started watching Season 7 yesterday and I'm still adjusting to Daniel being all "WHAT, I HAVE NO MEMORY OF YOU".
Actually, McGyver left the show two seasons ago and his departure is largely considered to blame for a drop in ratings...

I stopped watching stargate when he left, yeah. He was a little bit of guilty eye-candy I used to enjoy, and he often had some cracking lines. They should've ended it at like season7 like they originally intended.
There's no info about it on the official site or Sci Fi's site, so you may have got some bad information... (at least, that's what I'm hoping)

The movie wasn't nearly as good as the show. James Spader is no comparison to Michael Shanks.

You're the only one mistaken. Stargate SG-1 has not been "canned for years now". If that were the case they wouldn't have just screened their 200th episode last week and only be half way through screening Season 10. The show has been renewed every single year since its original station cancelled it and they moved to a new station (Sci Fi channel or something - IDK I'm not American). This is the first time in the last six years that it hasn't been renewed.
Therefore no. It hasn't been canned for years now.
Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis have been running concurrently with co-existing storylines ever since the Atlantis spin off began four odd years ago.
As for the movie, the creator has been discussing doing a sequel to the original 1994 movie that disregards all SG-1 canon but that has yet to be confirmed.

Fans have their fingers crossed it'll be picked up by another station but it's unlikely considering Stargate Atlantis is still on the SCI Fi channel.
On the OTHER hand, it would be much like Buffy and its spin-off Angel. Who knows. w00t!
