  • hmm... lessee.

"Today is the Day"- Apollo Sunshine.
I absolutely love Apollo Sunshine, and I've been listening to them nonstop recently, so I put this song because its the first one that caught my eye and made me really pay attention to them.

    "Chasing Cars"- Snow Patrol.
Its really adorable, and I love it, and I really can't say why other than the obvious fact that its such a great great song. I really need to go buy their albums, but I'm too lazy right now.

    "Eric the half-a-bee"- Monty Python.
It's monty python. and they're singing about a half-a-bee. 'nuff said. (plus its got lots of alliteration and assonance and tongue twisters, so its really fun to listen to and try to memorize.)

"Alive with the Glory of Love"- Say Anything
I never thought I'd like them, but this song is way too catchy for its own good, not to mention being really sweet and amazing.

"Shortcut Home"- composed by Dana Wilson.
We're playing this in band and its really amazing, although aggravating. the barry sax has the coolest part ever, and us flutes have a ton of running sixteenth notes, and there's a lot of crazy rythms, but its actually very catchy and sounds very cool.

    4. Mandy- the Spinto Band

I just saw that song performed live by them. That Mandolin sure is spiffy.

    "one more night" stars

I love you soooo much right now. That's the best song by them.

"When she's breaking his heart, she still fucks like a tease."

You people are boring. Tell me whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy you're obsessed with these songs.

Fine. Since my songs are the same, I'll simply explain them.
    QUOTE
    1) "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap
    2) "Miss Murray" by Timid Tiger
    3) "Good Weekend" and "Modern Art" by Art Brut (same artist, it counts as one)
    4)"Nice Day" by Persephone's Bees
    5)"Before We Begin" by Broadcast

1- This song is soooo weird. There aren't any instruments, just Imogen's voice in layers. It's so sad and poetic.
2- It's got a nice piano part. Simple, and there are twinkle noises.
3- Art Brut ROCKS, and those songs are so peppy and funny. "Got myself a brand new girlfriend, so many messages to send, phone ringing all weekend." or "Modern art makes me want to rock out! WHOOOO!"
4- Persephone's Bees rocks, and this is my favorite right now. It's ver retro.
5- Also retro. It was suggested by Pandora, and I happened to like it.

    QUOTE (the_bree @ Sep 29 2006, 07:00 PM)
I like that song! If anyone were to make a movie about my life, I'd like that song in there.

You should listen to my last song by Broadcast or Timid Tiger's (www.myspace.com/timidtiger).
  • in no particular order...

    1. Pink Champagne by venus hum
why? i guess cause i tend to gravitate towards hating female singers (with Feist being the major exception) and her voice just sounds original... is that a valid reason? evs

    2. The angels want to wear my red shoes by Elvis Costello
Gah! i dunno why but im falling for costello.... this song is a big reason why.

    3. I dont want to go to (chelsea) by elvis costello
My favourite song by him... so far that ive found tongue.gif ... I like it cause when i sing it, Rollo has NO idea what im talking about.
  • "to breathe"-new london fire
i saw these guys on sunday & they *supposedly* played this song for me, except i wouldn't know for sure because i only caught their last 3 songs because my friend & i were late & i didn't feel like asking them if they played it then feeling sad for having missed it.

"penny on the train track"-ben kweller
i got his new album a few weeks ago & this is my favorite song on it.

    "all of the time (new)"-locsksley
i'm obsessed with locksley, and this is easily my favorite locksley song. this is actually a re-done version of one of their older songs for their new album coming out next month. it's sorta beatles-esque, 'cause that's locksley's style, so i'd recommend them if you like the beatles, haha.

    "different"-new london fire
what can i say? i'm in love with this band right now. what i like about them is that all their songs are about crazy messed up shiz. and for the most part, you wouldn't really realize that until you really read into it & think about it. this song is the most obvious one, it's about a guy who falls in love with a prostitute, but she tells him things aren't going to change. the first song i said, "to breathe", is about a serial killer who kills a hooker on valentine's day. they have another song about 2 ghosts who are trying to find each other in the after-life. etc. and even though you would think, given the subject matter, these songs would be all gloomy or what not, they're actually kinda dance-y.

    "come on"-number one fan
this actually isn't a band anymore. well, all of the guys in the band are still in a band together, they've just changed their name and their musical style. which is all good, because they still rock. but i do miss number one fan, so i've been listening to them quite a bit. i particularly like this song, because i love their voices in it.

  • I only have three for right now. Yeah, yeah, I know I said five, whatevs. I'll come up with a better list soon.

    1) "Blankest Year" - Nada Surf
Oh, fuck it/I'm gonna' have a party...

Because I'm a sucker for any song that has the word "fuck" in the first three words, haha. Also, it rocks. And Scamper's opening for them and I won't be there. *pout* Dammit!

    2) "A Thousand Miles" - Vanessa Carlton
It's always times like these/When I think of you/And I wonder if you ever think of me

I listened to this song for the first time in a long time today, and I realised who lovely the lyrics are. They really reflect how I'm feeling right now.

    3) "Empire" - Kasabian
Stop!/I said it's happening again! /We're all wasting away!/We're all wasting away!

I love this record. And this song. Omg. I saw the music video at Jen's over the weekend, and it's pretty awesome.

    4. "Don't Cry Out" - Shiny Toy Guns
Electro-pop/Electro-rock with male and female lead vocals. This one is also easily a dance track.
    [/color]

I really like them. Le Disko is my myspace profile song.

Like Satellites - Over It (http://www.overitonline.com)
Since I think of so many songs in terms of where I'd like them placed in the movie based on my life, I'd like THIS song placed on a beach day... perhaps as the sun is going down and as all my friends are reuniting after not having seen eachother for months. Also, it is my birthday.

I've been loving on them for the past ...however long it's been since Andykins sent me 'Ooh La.' --I fully intend on seeing them as many times as I can when I'm in London!
  • I would like very much to see them live but I think that they never came to Portugal.
