*hahaha!* J orge is going to find some way to fix it so that no matter how we type his name, it still still come up as: Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore.
Oh my God ... I'm listening to my recording of it, and I forgot about something: the program records whatever audio occurs inside the computer ... hence all of the "bleeeuuuuh!" ding noises from people logging into the chat are all over it!
LOL
Oh, that sucks. I'm glad we've been assured already that the show will be archived and downloadable. But I'm going to hang onto my recording of the interview just in case it isn't included in any of the NPR podcasts. I think the archived concert will just include the concert.
Oh man, those "bloops" are really annoying. LOL But tolerable if this is the only recording of the interview we'll have ...
!! And hey, it's a souvenir of the chat, sort of. Hahaha
Oh hey, I just saw your post. I used Audacity. You get, like 80 hours of recording with the trial version, and it sounds great. And it's simple to export stuff as mp3s. I expected it to be really difficult to figure out.
I use WM Recorder to capture a lot of stuff, but I'm only using the trial version of that too, and you can only use it for five minutes at a time. If I had the full version of that, I could have gotten this without any "bloops," since that actually captures streams rather than actually recording the sound on your computer ...
Oh well. At least it's only when people come into the chat, not every time somebody posts!
[And a bit later:] OH MY GOD, THOSE BLOOPS ARE SO FUCKING ANNOYING!!!
Oh man, I think it IS every time someone posts, because now they won't stop!!! LOLOLOLOL I've got a recording of the whole chat!!!!!! This is just so absurd I think I'm going to die laughing! I think I'm going to keep the whole thing. Send it to J orge! LOLOL
Have I mentioned in the past minute how fucking funny this is? LOL
Is there a way to get a transcript of the chat, a history feature or anything? I'm not real familiar with AIM. How funny would it be to read it while listening to this, like following the bouncing ball ...

Ok, now how/where are you uploading it to the web? I did a radio show two weeks ago (in which I played OK Go, of course) and I'm looking for a place to host it. Already recorded it with Audacity, now I need something that will hold about 2 hours worth of music.
No, I've uploaded something an hour long already. Loveline.
I've also downloaded stuff that's pretty long (hour and a half, maybe?) from megaupload, so it's definitely possible. Sorry you've had trouble Maybe it was a temporary technical thing? Did you try on more than one day?
Oh my God, "Neat Neat Neat" sounds AMAZING. Damn, I wish this were bloopless. I cannot WAIT till this is archived.
yeah, that chat was fun! And then everyone was saying "hey, lets keep this going!" but then they all got off and it ended up as just 3 of us. And then I have to do my homework, so I had to get off cuz I couldn't keep up an AIM thing and be able to concentrate. I tried to join one of the chats on the JC, but I felt a little strange because all the people on there seemed to know eachother, and also it's not like AIM where once you join you see mast messages. So I got on and the first thing I saw was "aahahhahahahahahaa!!" and I had no idea what was going on and no one would explain it to me cuz it was an inside joke :/
This sounds so great during the acoustic part. The crowd reactions are fantastic. I feel like I'm listening to this for the first time cuz I was so into the chat.
I didn't even realize they started "What to Do" and then started it over.
Where was I?? I remember him talking to the girl singing along, but I hadn't even realized they'd already been playing the song.
Yeah, I got really into the chat, trying to figure out what everyone was talking about because there were about 3 different conversations going on at once, so sometimes I wasn't even listening to the concert.
I left to do homework, but that lasted for about 20 minutes and now I'm back here. I like the boards better than chats.
Dito. Much slower. I can never type fast enough, though I've greatly improved, and so by the time I type out what I want to say, it doesn't fit with what's being talked about right that second. And to help type faster, I don't use any caps and I hate it, and my letters get all mized up cuz I'm trying to send it in while it's still relevant. It's kinda hard to chat when there are so many people on there at once. Yeah, it got to the point where I wasn't paying much attention to the show. I still was, and of course when they were doing their dance I had to jump up and do it. But I was feeling so distracted. I'm kinda glad that the chat wasn't working for me at first (as it turns out, since I've gotten a new comp, I never re-downloaded AIM since my friends and I really don't use it any more). So then I was able to pay attention to what Damian was shouting at people about.
Yeah, I'm a pretty slow typer too. The exact same thing happened to me. I realized that I never downloaded aim onto my computer (it had died and my dad had to reboot it or something so now it works but I lost a ton of stuff), so I had to do that and I never use aim.
I've had such bad luck with computers. First, I had to share one with my evil brother which meant that I never got to use it. Then, I got my grandma's old computer, which ran super slow. That one didn't last too long either, but then my dad gave me his old laptop and I loved it and was so happy, but then something on the motherboard died and it would have costed more than a new laptop to fix that one. So then I got stuck with another normal computer. And that one lasted for a while, but then there was a power surge or something and (my stupid brother had plugged my comp into the wrong outlet, so it wasn't protected) after that, it was off but the lights kept flashing all over it. Even when we had it unplugged. So it was dead. And now I have this one, and I'm just waiting to see what's going to go wrong with it. I always get tons of viruses too (another of the reasons why I never re-downloaded AIM). We also have terrible luck with batteries. Our video cameras can never keep their charge, and our digital cameras always eat up the batteries like crazy. Which is why I'm shocked that through the course of my OK Go concert I only ended up going through a total of 3 batteries.
In the past year, I've found out that I kill computers. I have no idea how. My first computer died somehow, so I got a new one. Then I broke that one somehow and my dad fixed it, but then I somehow messed it up again and while I was waiting for my dad to fix it again, I used one of his computers and it kept freezing on me every 10 minutes. So yeah. Computers don't like me.
Personally, I like a discussion board format and AIM better. Chat rooms are irritating with the massive postings and several conversations going on at once. The fun part was talking to the boardies and the npr peeps. But for the most part, I don't dig chat rooms.
I was about to go to sleep, but I decided to check the NPR website one last time and I found that they put up the concert and interviews already, but I think you can only stream it.

Also, what program are you using to capture sound files?

"Don't Ask Me" is on now. lol

Pffffff. Unless it is a really small file, good luck. I've tried uploading a half-hour's worth of my show and it still wouldn't do it. Too large.
