I can't really contribute anything that hasn't already been said. But, when I watch this video, I sort of think, "That's so ... OK Go?." Rather than, "That's SO OK Go!!!!" As I would if I watched the HIGA video or the AMW video. Although, the pattern in the video aswell as the quirky-esque movements are highly attributed to OK Go. If I am correct in thinking the initial attraction/clever scheme behind the uniform couch paisley and robotic(ish) (except for a few moments) movements is to attract new fans, intrigue them, herd them in like cows... And if this is what they are going for, I think they'll succeed. I guess if you look at it from an 'older' fan's point of view it isn't quite what you expect. But to someone who has never been introduced to OK Go, and stumbles across this video, they might find it interesting, confusing, mind-boggling, itchy, etc. etc. And being the curious people we are, hike to the nearest computer and do some impassive research.
In conclusion, not what I would call, "Classic OK Go". (If I may be so bold as to state.) But, it's a hottie, fo sho'. BUT, then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
HOWever, I'm still crossing my fingers for a synchronized swimming video.
The new dwyw video is bait, chum, to attrach potential new OK Go fans. It'll lure you in and if you nibble long enough, they'll hook you in and eat you alive. muhahaha.
I kind of liked the other two videos better. One, because the guys' faces were unmasked and handsomely pristine, and two, because the new one doesn't go along with the tempo somewhat. There were some nice performances within the video, and it was actually pretty fun to watch. But I'd still prefer the older two videos.
I'm so hurt to say this, but, I like the old one better... the one with the jumping camera angles, I mean.
You know, this one, directed by Gondry, is probably my least favorite OK Go MV. And not because of the tricky camera angles, which take a bit of getting used to but don't make me dizzy or sick. I just think it's very conventional. A band playing and a bunch of nondescript people dancing nondescriptly. Everything else they've done is more interesting, imho, including the various excellent tour videos.

hehehhe! i agree!

That sucked. Seriously. In no way can I defend that, it was just stupid and miserable.
Where I can see my good old Ok Go in this is completely unapparent. This should've been a video to "It's a Disaster."
One star out of four. Nice concept, horribly done.
harsh! remind me never to get on your bad side canter. you should try and bring yourself to watch it again Canter. it might just grow on you ... just like lizard man grew on me... wait that doesnt sound right ...
I showed it to a couple friends who I know like Ok Go and got mixed reactions. One of my friends loved it and the other really disliked it--she said she thought that after watching 30 seconds of it, she didn't need to watch anymore cause it seemed like the same thing over and over again. I think it was well executed, but I found it distracting--I was watching the video, not listening to the music, which isn't the way to get new fans.
I'll always prefer the party one, simply because that video is sexah. This video is interesting but I agree with Posers that I focus more on the video than I do the music and when you're trying to get people into your music that is not a good thing.
I definitely prefer the first video. And the tour video. They just fit better. I think it might grow on me, but to be honest it's kinda disappointing. If we could've seen their faces, just a couple of glimpses of Damian's smirk, it would've been much better. It just doesn't feel very OK Go because you're not aware that they're there, if you see what I mean.
It's good for new fans I suppose. But for the rest of us (well me, anyway) it's just not enough. I feel a little abandoned.
When I saw this video, the lyrics "seemed like a good idea at the time" came to mind. It didn't really meet my expectations. Heh.
I thought it would've been cooler if the paisley suits didn't cover their heads. Then they would've looked like a bunch of floating heads at first glance, and the video wouldn't have been as monotonous.
But, if the band is proud of it (and I'm sure they are) then that's really all that matters.

Actually, that would have been kinda cool. But I still love it as is.
The party version is better because DWYW so screams PARTY. And parties sometimes make you drunk, and that sometimes means dizzy, and the party version makes you dizzy as parties are wont. So smack dat. (Uh, feel free to blame me if I used that juicy slice of pop culture jargon incorrectly.)

Yes!! Exactly. When I'm dancing and I've drunk too much, I feel just like that. It makes sense.
If the band themselves like it, then I'm happy for them. I'm just not keen myself

Yeah! Right? I like the tour version too; they are so secksie in it

And I'll be standing by you my fellow cable-less, big-screen-less OK Go fan.

But anyways, great job, OK Go.

Cool! I'll bring the guacamole! (do you think the store management will mind if we drag a few club chairs over from the furniture department?)

But of course, since they like it, so do I. <3
