Colby College show on 4/21?

edited November -1 in OK Go
Hi there,

I'm new to the boards and I was wondering if anyone had any information on how to get tickets for an upcoming show listed on OK Go's site - 4/21st at Colby College in ME.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

  • I don't see it on the events page yet, but they have a PR person who has an e-mail address and phone number you could contact (lower left of the page).

Thanks - I've sent an email to them but hadn't heard back yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
  • Colby is on spring break right now, which is why they haven't announced about the tix yet.

Info about tickets is supposed to come out soon after they get back, which would be monday.

my brother goes to colby (and is buying me tickets, woohoo!) so when he gets the info I'll be sure to let people here know.
  • Here's an online link for getting tickets:

    Just got mine tongue.gif
  • ah, sweet.

well, hopefully my brother knows what he's doing haha.
  • he got the tickets! *dances*

    I'm excited.

I'ma seeing Ok Go finally, I'ma seeing Ok Go finally, woohoo.

best birthday present yet?... I think so.
  • Big huge yay (YAY!) again! smile.gif
  • it's tonight!
    I'm singing, mentally.

and tomorrow's my birthday. and we went to applebee's and they sang to me... which was kinda awful, but oh well.

    I'M EXCITED!!!
    finally...

my brother says we might be able to hang around after and help out and meet them... but i'm trying not to get my hopes up...

I'm bringing my camera and such, so I'll have a full report eventually.
  • Happy birthday!!! I hope you meet them all- def'ly tell them it's your bd!
  • ahahahaha I love life.

bigger report tomorrow... but I did meet all of them.

    ALL

pictures and signatures from each one.
    and a set list.

Damian noticed my Tally Hall shirt... =P

best part? they played What To Do- definitely my favorite song ever, or at least off the first record.

I was in the second row, which was kinda awesome. Even though the acoustic set was in the middle, but I got it filmed anyways. I'm not sure how good it is, cause my camera has no speaker, but I'll upload it asap and if it's any good then I'll share.

my brother put up with me a lot, which was very awesome. plus, you know, he paid for the tickets, so I'm kinda in debt anyways.

there were two opening bands- Campaign for Real Time, and Citizen Cope. both were very very good.

AND--- i'm now officially seventeen. yay me!

like I said, I love life.
  • Yay! Happy Happy Birthday! Did the guys sing you the birthday song?
  • unfortunately, no. there were a lot of people hanging around waiting to get signatures and pictures and stuff, so i didn't get to talk to any of them a real lot.

but, Damian had a couple of squashed pennies to show off haha.
I guess he doesn't have any from Maine yet.

edit: besides, we went to Applebee's beforehand and my dad had them sing to me and bring me a sundae.... it was kindof awfully embarassing.
  • Ah well, who needs a birthday song from OK Go when you've got THEM right there!

Applebee's employees should be required to be part-time professional singers tongue.gif
But I bet that sundae was good! happy.gif
  • eeee, I can't wait to hear all about it! Tell us everything!
  • FULL REPORT

so my parents and I left Wakefield at around 9:00 and drove up to Colby. It's a three hour drive, and we stopped for a tour around Bowdoin and lunch, so we got there at around 2:30. Went to the store to get me some sinus headache medicine. Came back to my brother's dorm and watched some of the Red Sox game (which they won, woohoo).

at around 5:00 we went to Applebee's for dinner and, like I said, they sang to me and brought me a sundae. My brother thought it was hysterical but oh well.

then my parents dropped us off back at the college and went to do some errands (birthday shopping, haha) and find their motel. My brother and I cleaned his room so that I would have a place to sleep that night. (he has probably the messiest room in existence... but that's okay)

The doors opened at 8:00, and my brother would have gone down around then except I was too excited, so we went down to the field house at around 7:30.

note: the concert was supposed to be in their gym, but the storm had backed up the sewage and caused the whole gym to flood- not nice. So instead it was in the field house, which worked okay. more about this later.

So the doors opened at around 8:05 and we were in the Will Call line, which was longer but we still got in pretty quickly.
We ended up basically in the second row, with some tall people in front of us. (I'm five three, which isn't awful, but certainly not tall either) It got better as the show went on cause we kept getting pushed closer and closer and so I could see more and more, haha.

The first band was from Boston and called Campaign for Real Time (I think, haha) They were very very catchy and the keyboardist had really cool sunglasses:

Not much else to say about them.

Next was Citizen Cope. Now, I find him somewhat boring to listen to on record, but I expected his live show to be awesome... and it was.
I really really really like his voice.

so then came Ok Go. We were right in front of Andy, which made me extremely happy. It was kind of funny how I knew what to expect at each moment, but oh well.

this is the order written on the set list:

    House
    TV
    Don't Ask
(complete with tambourines, which was awesome)
    No Sign
    Good Idea
    YSDH
    Cover
(Violent Femmes, Prove My Love. during this Damian grabbed a wireless mic, ran around back and made his way through the crowd. so funny, cause I knew what was happening and no one else around me did.)

(acoustic) (they played A Million Ways and What to Do. I tried to videotape it on my camera, but apparently my camera doesn't deal with loud noises, so it came out shit. not even just fuzzy sound, its weird and hard to explain, but bottom line is, never use my camera to take videos. In other news, What To Do was definitely my favorite song that night. sosososo good.)

Disaster (this was probably my favorite new-record song that they played. It was surprisingly awesome live.)
GOI (I laughed out loud at the synchronized jump)
Oh No [/b](aka Oh Lately It's So Quiet... complete with the cell phones and "this is the second verse" which I was waiting for.)
    Invincible
    Here It
    ______
    (Return) ??
(they didn't play this... I didn't notice it on the set list until after, or I would have asked why. Upsetting, but I wasn't expecting them to lay it in the first place.)
ELO (second time he jumped into the crowd, haha.)
    DWYW (tubeyness and all.)

there was also some awesome in-between chat from Damian. as always. (this is all paraphrased, I don't have that good a memory)

"I know that the gym where we were supposed to play flooded and all, and you had to move the show here, and I don't mean to be critical or anything, but our dressing room was one of your locker rooms. Like I said, I don't mean to be critical, but I couldn't help noticing that your mascot seems to be a mule? (it's actually a white mule, Damian. this observation was followed by a roar from the crowd) Now, don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that your mascot would be something so.... slow, and dull, and, also, well...... impotent? It's really really awesome."

(right before playing HIGA. like I said, the concert was in the field house. to the left of the crowd was the workout room... only glass walls in between the two rooms. and lots of treadmill.) "Now, like I said, I know we were supposed to be playing somewhere else, but don't you think it's kinda cruel to put us in a room with all those treadmills right over there?"

(after some girls shouted "We Love You Tim!") "Did I just hear some people shout that they loved Tim? Did you hear that Tim?........ I love you too, Tim."
Tim: "Thank you, Damian. You know what? I'm taking their love, and passing it on to you."
Damian: "can you do that, transfer love? I don't think you can do that."
Tim: "well, I just did. I took their love, and it went through me to you."
Damian: "okay, well, girls? You now love ME."
    (lotsa screams, haha)

"how many people are here who are actually from Waterville?"
one small group off to my left screams
"really? okay, well, this song is dedicated to those seven people."

that was all the really good stuff... he also said that they had about 150 vids for DWYW but the newest one was the best and everyone should go watch it.

The girls I was near were high school sophomores from about two hours north of Waterville. we were the only ones around our area who knew all the words to all the songs, so it was good times.

After the show, I tried to get a set list but some other annoying guys had asked for them already. Luckily, one of my brother's friends who was helping out backstage managed to get a backstage one and get it to me. So I got that signed, eventually. Damian also dated it, which was cute.

umm... so then I convinced my brother to wait around outside the bus for them with me. The other girls were there too, so we had fun. Some pizza guy came with orders to deliver his boxes to the "field house, black tourbus". so we made sure to tell them that they had pizza on the bus, whenever we talked to them. Damian couldn't have pizza because he was recovering from being sick. (he gets sick quite a lot, doesn't he? I guess it comes with the job, but that must suck.)
By the time I spotted Dan, it was around 12:15, so I was officially seventeen years old.
We didn't-run to him and got signatures and pictures, then stood and talked for a while. at this point he was the only one out. Then he went inside the bus cause he was cold, and he came back out later with a jacket on.
Next to be spotted was Andy. He only stayed for a very little bit, to sign everything and take pictures, and then went inside. He didn't come back out, but I don't blame him.
Tim and Damian came out together, and signed/pictured and all, and then stayed and talked for a while. They were the last to go in their bus.

It was basically one big group discussion for all of them, and so these are the snippets of information I picked up:

    Damian's being sick
Damian does not have any flattened pennies from Maine, because when he went looking for some the only place he could find that had the machines wasn't open yet. everyone offered to send him some. He has over 80 in his collection, including some from Taiwan and some from Moscow. The ones he had in his pocket were from Florida and somewhere else, I forget.
Dan described the people who work at youtube as "really young, like all under 25, and really nerdy."
They didn't get anything but t-shirts for their Youtube Award, even though it got more press than their Grammy.
Dan and Jesse from Motion City Soundtrack have the same tattoo.
Dan doesn't really get starstruck (lucky!)
If Tim had known that Bloc Party was playing the same night they were in Boston, then he might have stopped by to see them, because Ok Go was done early. As it was, he went to the Paradise to see some friends of his.
Andy really truly doesn't know why he gets called "Rusty" and could only say "you'll have to ask Mr. Mr. Mr. Jorge, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore, Whom I Adore". One of the girls I was with wanted to know because she gets called Rusty due to her red hair. When she told him "I mean, I get called Rusty, but I know why." he went "why's that?" and didn't immediately get that it was her red hair. I think he must have been tired haha.
They were all very excited about their pizza.

one kid had them sign a level that he had found on the ground. Another had them sign his Croc (aka ugliest shoes ever). The guys that got the stage setlists also bought event staff t-shirts off of people, and ended up actually helping bring Ok GO's gear out to the trailer.

I forgot to ask any meaningful questions, such as about the brightly colored bath towels. I was very overwhelmed by it all, but I think I'll be better next time. Hopefully.

anywho, then we walked back to my brother's dorm. and slept. and then today we drove home.

sorry it's so long, I didn't think I had that much to say!

I didn't get too many good pictures, but here's the two from the show that I like:

and my pics with the guys... my hair went kind of wacky due to the humidity of the place. Other than that, and the fact that my face likes to shine a lot when it's kind of sweaty, the pictures are pretty good. And the guys look awesome, so oh well.
