LOL, We're just grateful you didn't *actually* run Damian over.

that would have been bad, we weren't going very fast-it would have been just a love tap!

has anyone else had embarrassing run in's with the band? It'll make me feel better...
  • Yeah. I think we've all been there. lol. I felt like a total ass myself when I met them the first time. Too much fan-girly-ness and high pitched voice tongue.gif . But I think they're all used to it. I was more composed the second and third time I met Dan though. He's so nice and easy to talk to.
  • Believe me, I would love to get a chance to meet them and have a stupid -- but memorable -- moment. In your case, you had three! And I'm glad to see you on the boards. I think you'll like it here. smile.gif

Edited to include her OK Go pictures from MySpace on the off chance some of you don't have a MySpace account.

I was on vacation in Los Angeles, visiting a friend. While we were there, the Snark-a-Snoops were doing a performance at a public library not far from my friend's apartment. So we went. We were a little late, so we came in and sat down in the back. No sooner is my behind in the seat than I notice that across the aisle a few rows ahead of us, wearing a gorgeous pinstripe suit, is Damian. I gasped and grabbed my husband's arm and whispered to him "Adam - he's here! It's HIM!" It was all I could do to keep my cool for the rest of the Snarks' show, but I did (it was a really cool show, btw), and afterwards we went over to Trish and Christin to say hello. At this point though, I was so afraid of them thinking I was a crazy Damian stalker that I could barely speak (and anyone who knows me knows how rare it is that I can't speak). My husband, the INTROVERT, does almost all the talking with Trish, who was so incredibly sweet. After a minute, Trish says "You guys hang out a minute, lemme finish talking with the kids." So we go wait off to the side. Damian was not more then 30 feet away, talking with what I presume was his family. I was so mortified - seeing them at a concert was one thing but out in public with family was quite another. So Trish comes over to us and Adam tells her "We're sorry, we had NO idea your brother was going to be here and we're kind of afraid you'll think we're crazy stalkers." Trish laughs it off and waves to Damian, who then waves back. We all wave at him and Adam says "We're Big Fans!" I turn bright red and from that point on I couldn't get out of that room fast enough.

Incidentally about a month ago I got to talk to Damian and he was really sweet and cool about the situation. In fact, when I first said that I went to see a Snarks show and he was there, he said "I'm sorry to hear that". :-) Nicest guy EVER.
  • Hi evilgenius! biggrin.gif Welcome to the board! Your story and pictures were so cute.

Well, yesterday I was reading some blog that came up on my RSS reader, where this fan grabbed Damian's "package", stole--STOLE--his pin right off of his tie, and is delighted with herself.

    At least you're not that woman. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

I second that remark.. that's not a "fan".

To evilgenius -I would read your blog, but myspace is being stupid and erroring at the moment. I'll read it later smile.gif

I managed to come onto Tim in the most hideously vulgar way (I said I wanted him to be my dentist because I wanted him in my mouth), which he remembered the second time I saw him - but he said it was funny so I don't think he minded too much lol. I also called Damian arrogant but I got away with that one by telling him that arrogance is hot, t which he replied "well, as long as you like it!". It's generally slightly squealy "Ohmygoshit'syou" embarrassment, but they're used to us now laugh.gif

That's terrible! How do people even TRY to justify this as appropriate behavior?!?!
  • Wow thanks guys for making me feel better. Def the embarrassment has worn off a bit. At least I didn't grab his goods, although if I had a few drinks in me, who knows ...this is why I need to step away from the rockstar, and breathe-not breathing can cause you to be a lunatic.

Yeah that was my problem the time that I met them and tried to talk to them for a substantial amount of time. haha I think they were really surprised to find out that I'm in college since I was kind of acting like a 14 year old (no offense intended to any 14 year old boardies).

Evilgenius: this is going to sound slightly creepy, but in going from your myspace to your blog, I noticed that you're a fashion designer. Did you design the dress you're wearing in those pictures? It's really cute.

    Why, thank you smile.gif
    I'm totally blushing now!
Yeah it was pretty embarrassing (I left thinking "what the fuck have I done??") but the next time he just saw me and went "Oh, you're the funny one!" so I guess it's alright... biggrin.gif

And hey, Evilgenius, glad you're here! smile.gif
  • evilgenius, I love, love, love your story! Dan sounds soooooo sweet and cute! I bet he was chuckling about everything that night as he went to sleep. Isn't he awesome?

As for embarressing- add me to that list. I've only met Andy, not the others, but I've met him twice. The first time I met him, I screamed his name so loud that he actually, literally, really jumped. The second time I met him, I tried not to be so loud, but I was still terribly gushy and squealy. If only I could say, "Do over" and do it completely differently.

actually, now I can't stop laughing- at one of his first OK Go shows, Andy was attacked by someone using him as a stripper pole, and then I broke his eardrum and you burned his hand...hahahahaha, poor Andy! The Many Hilarious Misadventures continues!

Alice- I love your story too! And Tim was totally cool with it and remembered you!

  • aw well atleast u got to meet them
im still a little schoolgirl hoping for a ride...
  • You know what? I'm sure that with all their relentless touring, they will find it hard to remember one spazzed out fan from another. At least that's what I'm hoping because I know I'm gonna go all fangirly when I see them in August and will be all "OMG I LOVE YOU!!! YOU'RE THE BESTEST BAND IN THE WORLD EVAHHH" Ahem. See?
