*haha* I told Sheri everything anyway. I love telling her what goes on. We share stories all the time.
By the way Sheri, I'm not sure if you are still awake, so I won't call you tonight. Sorry I didn't answer earlier; I was at dinner and left my phone in the car. Talk to you sometime this weekend.

Oh, and also - does anyone have the setlist for this show? My mind keeps playing tricks on me and telling me that they played "What to Do,"when I know they didn't...
See my comment on the previous page. I think I got all of the songs they played, but not necessarily in the right order. I tried desperately to grab the setlist, but the roadies take it away first thing.
If Jennifer’s generous compliment about my recapping skills raised your expectations, I'm sorry. This recap will not, I’m afraid, be up to my usual standard. I had all day to write the Urbana recap, but I don’t have that luxury now. I haven’t been around here much (and I miss it!) because I’m still working 65 hours a week during high event season at my job. Anyway, here goes:
I drove to Indianapolis early. I got in line about 2:45 and made friends with two Fray fans. I also talked briefly to some parents whose daughter was there to see The Fray. They were there to see OK Go, and I told them about the Grownups group. I hope they check it out!
Jennifer joined me about 5:00, and it was a happy reunion!
The gates opened at 5:30, and we got right up front. Yes! Success! I drank a couple beers, which I thought I totally deserved, and the other girls had waters while we waited and talked. A bank was handing out fans, so we took a handful and made little signs with them. Jennifer wrote “Bye Bye Baby” on one. I wrote “More Stage Banter” (but I didn’t need it – Damian did fine without my encouragement). (First rule of fandom: Carry a Sharpie at all times.)
Mae’s set was good but uninspiring. The singer definitely smiled at Jennifer, because she actually knew the words and was clearly enjoying herself.
I don’t like to gush publicly, but I have to say that before OK Go came on stage, I caught a few glimpses of Damian, behind the rigging, way at the back of the outdoor stage. Seeing him for the first time with the sunlight on him, my heart lifted, and I kind of melted into Jennifer and said, “Oh, Jennifer, I have got it bad for that boy.”
OK Go opened with Don’t Ask Me, throwing tambourines far out into the audience. Good Idea was next. Other songs in the set that I recall (no doubt out of order and incompletely) are: It’s a Disaster No Sign The Fix Is In Get Over It ELO cover OLISQ, straight into Invincible (I knew we were close to the end) HIGA DWYW to end the set
The sun was right in my eyes for the first half of the set. I didn’t take many pictures. I got a few good ones of Dan, though, who was right in front of us. They all looked good, very smart and sharp.
Damian may have a new (actually an old) shirt, but he still has Mighty Cuffs of Power! Yes!
I love his flippy hair in this one:
I love how Andy has his guitar strapped to his back. He’s such a guy.
I’m impressed that they continue to come up with things to make their show entertaining and fun. For example, they adapted the cell-phone-gadget thing for a daylight show by inviting everyone to wave their bare arms, making a “gigantic shag-carpet of arms.”
Before ELO, Damian addressed the people sitting on the rise of ground at the back of the ‘house’: "I'm going to talk to the Hill People right now...hello, Hill People...I’m feeling the picnic vibe…look, I brought my own beer (he held up the bottle to prove it)…This song is for you, Hill People.” I like how he makes an effort to connect even with the people way at the back.
Singing the solo vocal part at the end of “The Fix Is In”…I’m pretty sure several more girls fell in love with Damian during that part.
One really human moment that I liked: Right before he started to play, Damian noticed something on his guitar neck. It was a large-winged bug; he looked at it, picked it off, and it flew away. “You have a lot of bugs,” he said.
OK Go played with such great energy. Mae just played their set straight through, with almost no talking, but with OK Go, it’s a show. You’re entertained and made to smile and laugh (and dance! in my case). I love this about them, and I hope other people love it, too. I secretly hope that OK Go is stealing fans from The Fray during this tour. Winning them over. It’s what they do.
Jennifer and I were in the front row, but I don’t think they saw me. Jennifer said Andy and Dan both looked at her at least once. Andy read her sign and smiled.
After OK Go’s set, Jennifer and I let our new friends have our front-row spots. We headed over to the bus, where we waved to Dan, who was in the driver’s seat. I pointed to a special present I had brought, and he came out to talk to us. I politely but pleadingly asked to give it to all the guys at once, and Dan said he’d see what he could do. He said the other three were about to leave for the hotel, where they were going to keep writing more songs. (They are working so hard, and we love them for it.) After a while, Dan said they would come out, but they would wait till The Fray started playing, so as not to draw too much attention. As promised, they did come out, and I got to give them my present! (see this thread) Here they are looking at it:
I’m so glad I got to give it to them all at once. They were really surprised, and that’s what I wanted. Tim and Damian both remembered me mentioning a “special secret project” back in April and asked if this was it. I couldn’t believe that!
The Columbus show on Friday will be my last until the next round of touring. I’ve been going to shows in pairs, and the second is usually better for me, because I’m paying more attention, or something. I hope that holds true again. I’m grateful I’ve gotten to go to so many shows on this tour, and I am really looking forward to the next OK Go creation…
Please keep posting your own recaps and posting new things you find! Welcome to all the new boardies! Keep spreading the OK Go love!!!
I said it in the other thread, but I'm saying it again. You're amazing Suzanne. I think you're rivaling Sheri as Queen of OK Go. That was a great recap and I love the pictures.
Wow, so it was a game! I guess if you posted that, I missed it. From that picture, it looks really impressive--and the guys look impressed! Got any close-up pics and details as to how it works?
EDIT: WOAH, JUST SAW THE OTHER THREAD. NEVERMIND. I'm FLOORED!
YAY that was such a great recap. It made me smileeeee.
The guys seem to really like your present... what genius, by the way! Cute photo, too.
And WHOA! I saw the "Bye Bye Baby" sign of yours. My friend and I were just in the row behind you.
Ah, and I managed to work up an accurate setlist, if anyone wants it: - Don't Ask Me - A Good Idea At the Time - No Sign of Life - The Fix Is In - It's A Disaster - Don't Bring Me Down - Get Over It - Oh Lately It's So Quiet - Invincible - Here It Goes Again - Do What You Want
i ment to take an even amout of pictures of all of them but my camera just kept on focusing on tim lol
Godddddddamn.
Either you were one of the professional photographers standing in front of Suzanne and I (in FRONT of the front row), or you have an amazing digi SLR camera that I will indeed steal while you are sleeping.

You Are Incredible!

I feel kinda like I'm... betraying my loyalty to Damian here...
But Andy's hotter in these pictures.
Godddddddamn.

The first Tim picture makes me weak in the knees.
