Ok guys, I'm super sorry...I've been unexpectedly busy this week, but ok time for next installment.
Part II:
Ok, so when I left off I was on line. As we're waiting, a man and woman come out with a video camera, like one of the professional ones, and was taping the outside of the Bowery and everything. I figured they were doing something for the event. Then I see them interview some guy on the street, and was talking to him about Barack Rock, and Obama. I was wearing my "NY loves Obama" pin and I noticed the camera pointing at us a couple of times. And then like 5 min. later, the two people come over to us and the girl asks us if she could ask us a couple of questions about the event. We were like sure! So exciting! Like out of the whole line, she asked us! I bet it was because my pin haha So she asked us like what the event was, and whether we were there primarily for Obama or for the entertainment. And said that I first heard that OK Go was going to be there, so I had to go. And then I heard that it was Barack Rock and in support of Obama, so then I definately had to go. It was such a perfect combo. And then she asked us about what we liked about Obama, like what's our favorite policy. I bet I sounded like such an idiot and I didn't make any sense, but o well. haha And we had to give our name, and email address so they could email us a release form. And I asked the lady what this was for. Apparently, the wife of the lead singer in Shudder to Think, Craig Wedren, who was the one who organized Barack Rock, has been following Obama for the past 4 years and making some sort of video thing. So they wanted to get people's reaction at this event. So who knows, I may be in some Obama video...how cool!!
Ok so, finally it was time to go in. I was scared that the other bouncer would check again, but he didn't, so we were in. Yes! We had to go down to the bar/lounge and wait there for like another 15 minutes, before they opened the doors down there. Then we had to go up another set of stairs and me and my friend like ran over to the stage once we got onto the floor. We were actually planning on which side we should get, whether we should be dead center, or more towards Andy or more towards Tim. We didn't really have a choice though, because we kind of just went up to the stage. And the 3 girls ahead of us got like from Damian to Tim, so me and my friend were in between Damian and Andy. That was totally fine with me And we were like right up against the stage. Like I could touch the amps and wires and stuff. I could have even climbed on stage if I wanted to haha. We were waiting for awhile and the room started to fill up. Then finally at like 820ish the lights dimmed and Stella walked on stage. So. cool.
Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, and David Wain are hilarious. I was actually surprised at how raunchy some of their stuff was, but they were still good. They did their little bit and talked about the bands and talked about Obama and pretty much why he is awesome. As they were talking, the first band, Alberta Cross, was setting up. Then they introduced them. They were 3 guys from England, and they were pretty good. Then Stella came back on and they talked while the next band, Joan as Police Woman, set up. They were good, but the singer was a little weird. But their music was alright. Then Stella came back out and talked again (there seems to be a pattern haha) and actually introduced Michael Showalter and Craig Wedren and some other members of Shudder to Think, as The Doilies. Michael read something, I think it was "the mountain" and then they would all randomly start singing and then he would read some more and do the same thing. And then he sang another song, like the 10 commandments of making a sandwich, and it was the same thing. He would talk and then they would all start singing. It was funny.
Then Shudder to Think came on. The singer Craig Wedren thanked everyone for coming and talked about the importance of voting on Super Tuesday, especiallly for Obama. Then they did their set. I had never heard them, so I didn't know their stuff. But they were actually really good, I thought. And between their songs, he would mention something else about voting or something else about Obama. Since it was the day after the Superbowl, he said that voting for Hillary is like voting for the Patriots, ewwww. But voting for Obama is like voting for the Giants, who are the champions. Hahah That got everyone excited. Good comparison...
Alright, stay tuned for the next part. I promise it will be soon
O and I'll get to the Andy wisdom tooth thing don't worry
Obama. Since it was the day after the Superbowl, he said that voting for Hillary is like voting for the Patriots, ewwww. But voting for Obama is like voting for the Giants, who are the champions. Hahah That got everyone excited. Good comparison...
aww, why the hatred towards my Pats?? hehe I don't really care, it is a good comparison for New Yorkers, I guess?
I still can't wait to hear the rest, but this installment was very good!
LOL, it's because the Giants were the Underdogs, the way Barack is.
hehe yeah, I can see that I don't even care particularly about American football, AND I kinda like the Giants anyways. but still, the Pats are my home team, and it's sort of sad that they inspire such great amounts of hatred in the rest of the country.
OMG The dollies are awesome yeah, the mountain song and the sandwich commandments song are on Micheal showalters new cd. RAD im so glad you had such an amazing time, and im extra glad that you're here to tell us all the dirt
Alright everyone, I am sorry sorry sorry. It's been like forever since Barack Rock and believe me, I wish I could have written this like weeks ago haha. I've just been so busy. Of course like every time I come and sit down to write this, I get sidetracked or have some other thing to do (boo school ) But without further ado, I shall continue this long, drawn out, writeup haha. Sorryyyyyy
Ok so I believe I left off with Shudder To Think performing. They were really good. The singer, Craig Wedren, emphasized the importance of voting on Super Tuesday and talked about the election and stuff. At the end of their set, Craig Wedren brings out Nina Persson of The Cardigans, someone else that I forgot her name(oops) and Karen Elson aka MRS. JACK WHITE. What?! So apparently Jack White was there, which is downright amazing! The 3 sang with Craig, and then sang like 2 or 3 songs from their trio, The Birds. They were alright, but a bit weird. I can't really describe them haha
Then they finish and Stella comes back on stage and talk again. While they are talking and telling their jokes, OK Go's crew is on stage setting everything up. The 3 Stella guys announce that they have a special guest that night. Everyone was wondering who it could be. Then they mention that some of the Kennedy's have recently endorsed Obama and so they introduce Caroline Kennedy. Except when "she" walks out, she seems to resemble a man, and more specifically actor Paul Rudd. People starting cheering and he was pretending to be her. He then showed the crowd a picture of Obama that he took with his iPhone. It was all actually really funny and totally unexpected.
And then finally, Stella says that OK Go is up next. At the first mention of the name, EVERYONE moves up like 2 feet. So I was like basically squished right up against the stage, but hey, I didn't mind After a few minutes, the band walks on stage, and everyone goes nuts. They were like the big act of the night. They didn't play as many songs as Shudder To Think did, but I guess since their singer organized the whole event, they can play as much as they want.
During the show, Damian would also talk about how important it is to vote, and to hopefully vote Obama! He had this stack of pieces of papers to give out. Except he said he didn't know where they came from and he thought he was supposed to give them out. So he took a bunch of them and just threw them to the crowd. I got a couple! It was just reminding people to vote and stuff like that. And that's pretty much what Damian talked about, the election, considering that that was the main idea of this whole event. But ok so the wisdom tooth story. Damian mentioned something about Andy and said that we would have to excuse him, because he just got his wisdom teeth pulled THAT DAY. So he said everyone should feel bad for him and that that was the reason his cheeks were a little puffy haha . That's why I think Andy looked a little down when he was walking on the street into the ballroom. So that explains it. But the whole crowd was like "awwwww" They all felt bad for him. So everyone, don't worry, Andy is alright. He is that awesome that he could have his wisdom teeth removed and still rock out that same day!
Then they finish and Stella comes back on stage and talk again. While they are talking and telling their jokes, OK Go's crew is on stage setting everything up. The 3 Stella guys announce that they have a special guest that night. Everyone was wondering who it could be. Ohhh porifera!! I'm so glad you found a spare minute to breathe from school! I know how that goes!! How cute is Andy? Such dedication!
But THIS... is my favorite. I'm INSANELY jealous you got to see Paul Rudd, in the FLESH! He is one of my FAVORITE actors. I've been in "love" with him since Clueless

back on topic:
Patty we need more!
not to pressure you or anything...
Yay new pictures from the show.
What gives? Tell us moooooorrrrrrreeeee.
(This overly-whiney post brought to you by an exceedingly long, boring day at work)
O and I'll get to the Andy wisdom tooth thing don't worry
I feel like those annoying girls in the movie Grease singing, "tell me more, tell me more"
last night fel showed me the "Extras" ep. where this girl sings that song with her dad... its been in my head all day...
but yes! that song is really fitting!
