  • Thanks, Krista. I'm glad the rant could at least serve the purpose of providing some entertainment.

I'm sorry to hear about your shirt! That does sound disappointing. You had it in your hands… and then not…

So first, you know your aunt best, but are you sure she wouldn't like for you to have the shirt in a size that fits you?

And second, let's say you're stuck with the size that you have… all is not lost… I've taken in shirts before and it can be done. My question to you: how far down your front is the design when you put on the shirt?

Now it looks like you tried to log on, but couldn't post. Not a good night. Hey, did you at least get the lapel pin?

    ————————-

Meanwhile, thanks also to Rachel, Amber, Christel, and Skylar for appreciating the rant. Glad it amused and/or resonated.

Amber, do you still have the shirt you made? Are there pics of it anywhere? I think home-made T's are the best, and I'd love to see the one you made.

Skylar, you get it! Guys often do not get the pocket dilemma and therefore have no patience for it. You have walked a mile in another person's pant— wait…so much for the proverb mashup… but you know what I'm saying! Empathy is golden.

Christel, I bet yours and mine were only a few of the many complaints/suggestions that were lodged before the change was made. "Serious statistical oversight" is right! I hope the boys didn't end up losing too much money because of it. But actually, it sounds more likely there are now several women in Krista's position, with the supertent shirts. Hmmm….

Rachel, thanks for prompting me to post the unposted rant. And at least now it's served some purpose!

Dude I have one pair of girl's skinnies (They're purple, okay?  Hushup, I know straight guys that wear girl's skinnies too.xP) anywho, point is, I can't stand the pocket thing.  They're tinyyy.. I don't understand how you cope with them.  ><

As far as Donna and wedding dresses, at least the Doctor has TARDIS pockets to make up for it.  xD

SCI-FIVE to Skylar! Hey, dude, I want to follow you on Tumblr, but I don't wanna mess up your 42! Laugh

The tiny pocket thingy – that's why women have to carry purses. When I wear my jeans, I load up the real pockets so I don't have to carry a purse if at all possible!

PemiBlue - for whatever reason I was self-conscious and put the pattern on the back of the T, so techinically there are pictures of it out there... I'll try to get a buddy to snap a picture of the back.

That is one of the most entertaining and accurate all-caps rants I've ever read. Nice one!

In much sadder news, I finally got my green and yellow OK Go shirt today. (That sounds happy, I know. Bear with me.) I've known I was getting it since Christmas, and I've been ridiculously excited about it. So you can imagine how happy I was to finally have it in my hands. And then...I looked at the tag. It's two sizes too big. I put it on over the kind of puffy jacket I was already wearing, and it was still too big. Almost comically. So I can't realistically wear it. And I don't want to tell my aunt that it doesn't fit, because I don't want her to think I don't appreciate the gift. My mom suggested I just buy myself another one, but she of all people should know that I can't afford to. So now I'm just sad. And I'm not quite sure what to do with myself.

How big is the one you got, Krista? We might be able to work something out...

Rrrightt?  I got really excited.  :D

It'll probably be messed up by some unknowing non sci-fi geek soon though, anyways.  And I'm hardly gonna tell people to unfollow me.  xP

    Krista: Can't you exchange it?

Since we're talking about clothes here...

    I. Hate. Purses.

I hate them to death. So much. That, combined with the whole Teeny OK Go-sized pockets, is why I'm always wearing a coat. Because they actually have functional pockets for my phone, iPod, pick case, and wallet. It's redonkeykong. I kind of hate women's clothing in general (see rant).

@Skylar: Yay for you for wearing girl's skinnies. And yay for purple too. It's kind of funny, I have another gay friend named schuyler, but that's totally unrelated.

Anyway. I didn't get jack for Christmas on the OK Go front. Even though my parents kept asking me what I wanted, and I couldn't think of anything so I said, "I dunno, I guess the Extra Nice Edition" and absolutely nothing else and still managed not to get that. Instead I got some clothes from Aeropostale. I've never, ever shopped at Aeropostale in my entire life. (Expensive, cheaply made, ugly preppy suburbite clothes.)

I guess my friend made me a (really) cool notebook and it has a picture of the boys on it, but that's it. I'm going to buy myself a physical copy of the ENE and maybe order a t-shirt too if I'm not totally broke after paying to see CAKE and Jonathan Coulton in February.

  • Krista, can't you try to fix it in a seamstress* or something?

*had to look for that word up, didn't know it in English, is that the one you use, is it right? NEED to know that, please

    :]

Right word, wrong usage.  You "take it to the seamstress."

    :-)

  • Thanks for the suggestions, everybody! Hopefully Christel and I will be able to work out a trade, but if not then I'm sure I'll figure out something else. I just can't let my aunt know about it because her family's relationship with my family is kind of unstable these days, and this would just end up aggravating things. It's a ridiculous situation, but there you have it.

Oh and yes, I did get the lapel pin! :D I just can't figure out what to do with it. Right now it's just being all adorable on my desk.

I had no idea such hatred for purses existed. I don't particularly love them myself, but I do tend to really like the ones I end up getting. For me, a purse is kind of a take it or leave it item. (I have to admit, though, that my mom got me a Coach purse on Valentine's Day a couple years ago which I do actually love, and I still use it. That thing is built well! Usually I only keep a purse for around a year.)

Edit- Umm….had some awkward html problems there. Everything was a broken hyperlink. Look at this edit window:

Somehow I guess I fixed it. Weird.

  • Krista, if you can't do the exchange, you can always turn the shirt into a pillowcase. Then you can have OK Go dreams every night.
  • Oh man, I got their first album since I didn't have it yet. But that's about it. I got fabric markers earlier this year so for my birthday (Feb 4th) I'm going to ask for a butt-load of white tee-shirts. I have already made a few designs. Maybe I'll scan them for you guys. :D
Also, I find it hard to get merch since I don't have a credit card and my mom is cheep and thinks that the whole internet only consists of pedophiles, scams and identify theft.
Has anyone else bought from the website's merch store? Anyone want to confirm that it actually is safe?
Also, I wish they had more posters. Like, even a shot from the music videos for a poster.
Because I'm so tired of wasting the school's ink on crappy black and white low resolution pictures from google.

This idea I love! Makes me want to by an extra small t-shirt just to do this. More proof that becky=genious. Look it up.

Hey, not to worry. There's something way more fun about actually making your own Ok Go merch (it's what I do anyway). From what I hear around the forum, the merch store is safe, but the only problem is getting items shipped to you sometimes takes a looong while. Am I speaking the truth, everyone?

  • It really depend son how soon they process your order, I think.. maybe that's just me cuz I live a day away from where they process it (and less than that from where they make it, but apparently they -have- to send it the other direction first.  xP)

The thing is, my first order (a shirt) got here in like two days.. a USB I ordered took about two months, because apparently they make them slowly and only send a few at a time, or something, and the vinyl I ordered took like two weeks.. that was also A Million Ways, not like something that just started being made, like the White Knuckles UK release or anything.  xP

Yes it is safe. I ordered it from Brazil, with my international credit card, and GOD KNOWS how difficult it is to buy stuff from here. Brazil makes it hard on your pocket, you know. But yes, got my order, it arrived before the 4 weeks and everything was right in the package!

And Rachel, THANKS for answering my question!! LaughLaughLaugh

you see, by saying - can't you try to fix it in a seamstress - it would kind of imply, if translated to portuguese, that I am taking the thing to be fixed by a seamstress. but yes, noticed I put the wrong usage there, but yeah, Im still learning (always!)

    Thank you!

  • Thanks guys for your answers!

Oh man, that sucks. All the way from Brazil. I'm happy that they ship all over the place though. I'd be pretty upset if they didn't. XD

    Oh, KristaMichelle,

Uhm, A fashion that I always sport with huge band tees/Jerseys is wearing an undershirt (The lacy tank top ones) and have the large shirt overtop of it. The excess material gets tied back with an elastic at the back. It looks cool and better than wearing a baggy shirt.

If not, you could always fix the seams. I mean, undo them and then cut a few inches off and the sew it back together.

Another thing to do (It's a little bit old, but you could always bring it back XD) is to get all crazy tricky with safety pins. It cuts back on the material and you can make cool designs with it. The only down part is that it's time consuming.

Other than that, you could google it. IDK

Does anyone actually KNOW why the USBs take so long?

  • Yupyup - they apparently only actually make a few at a time, and from a few shows at a time.. like they don't just have them or anything, weirdly enough...
