What Would You Ask The Boys?

edited November -1 in OK Go
Haha, this topic is made for ridiculous questions that you'd like to ask the boys if you could, they can be normal or crazy or whatever you want.

Maybe when I finally go to a concert I'll try to get them to answer some of them. <3

OK, SHOOT!

  • that is a very tough question.

what are the rules? 1 question or more?
  • Oh dude,

Well, whatever you want, if you have more than one question then it's absolutly fine if you post them.

    An example is:

Damian: "What shoe size are you?" Well, that isn't as spontanious as wanted but...

You get the idea, right? Sorry, I should of said this in the first post. XD
  • I would like to know his socks size xD HAHAHAHA #tumblrthing

There's some things that occur to me while listening to the new record and when I'm seeing the videos that will obviously not pop in my head right now, but I would love to ask them (besides the serious curiosities from their work and such) obviously silly stupid questions like, what is the best dish they know how to cook, what does Damian do when he wants to impress someone that already knows who he is and what he does (like a girl for example, hihi, though I don't see why a girl wouldn't already be impressed by his...well, breathing), and stuff like that. random, but not exactly like personal, you know? like, general questions about stupid topics would be things I'd like to know.

Like, 'what is the first thing you do when you wake up' and 'how do you cure yourself from a mad hangover when you have an interview at 10am' or something like that HAHAHAHAHA

    I must sound like a mad hatter, don't I?

    xD
  • LMAO

Those are good ones. I saw your blog and giggled at the randomness of it. But it's really good. And I fell in love with the background picture -So pretty <3-

I'd so laugh if he said "I eat a bowl of wheat stocks and small pebbles" XD
  • Hahaha laeticia's already said a lot of mine.

Hmmm… I think one thing I'd love to ask them is about song meanings. Like how they were inspired to write certain lyrics, what the meaning of some songs are to them. I can relate to all the songs in my own way but it would be nice to actually have a one on one conversation with the boys about lyrics and such.. not that I'd ever get the chance to do that, but hey, that's why we have this thread!
  • Haha, we're always allowed to dream. XD

That's one that I've been wondering too. The songs on Of The Blue Color Of The Sky are really, REALLY sad. But they sort of half-explained that on the Ira Glass interview.

Out of all the songs, what one would you want explained the most? Mine would be "Television, Television". <3
  • I think some of them would be DWYW, The house wins, 1000 miles, What to do. I mean obviously some of those songs are self explanitory but i'm always curious as to who/what inspired them. You know? :) To be honest I think I could talk to the guys about music forever.. but that would probably get boring for them XD
  • I'm kind of afraid to talk to the boys someday because I might just keep on talking and talking and talking...

But then again, in reality, I'd probably just go speechless and fall on the ground in a fetal position XD But yeah, those are really good ones.

On another note, I'd really like to ask Damian what got him so hooked on the Muppets. Since I just finished watching The Muppets Take Manhattan, and I liked it and all, but I don't know why he's so utterly obsessed with it.

I would also be torn between an inability to stop talking and the complete absence of motor skills.

The Muppets thing, for me and maybe anyone of my *advanced* age, anyway, is simply that these characters are some of the first that we bonded with as children. Plus, by the time there was The Muppet Show we had muppets, music, dance, comedy, celebrity and explosions... all in an inventive, interactive format that didn't talk down to us.

I used to be fascinated whenever the show has popular musicians as guests. I loved Alice Cooper's episode and I distinctly remember being sent to my room for asking my stepdad to "Shut up, please." during Debbie Harry's performance of "Call Me".
  • LOL, or just start talking in jibberish and running away. XD

Well that makes sense, I guess that growing up with them would make you love them. I find that with a lot of shows that I watch while babysitting, sure, Pokemon is still cool in my books and always will be.

There are also new shows like Yo Gabba Gabba that I force the kids to watch just because I like it. (And they have some of my favorite bands singing songs about washing your hands( ) and smiling for the camera( ) Laugh
  • Yo Gabba Gabba is just TOO awesome. Seriously, they give me hope for the next generation. The music they feature is so sick. Was OK Go actually ever on it, or did they just visit the studio? Cause I thought I heard something about that.
  • OK Go participated in the live show in LA. Every time I see the photos from it (sadly so few), I think it makes Andy looks so incredibly tall. I'm sure it's the proximity of the drum kit...

There were a few more places with photos, but my head is too stuffy to remember where to find them.

As much as I'd like to ask them about songs, I'm afraid I'd end up trying to make them talk about something that would be so obviously personal, because I take the lyrics very personal in a way too. Believe me, I'd would LOVE to know the meanings of it, but it would have to be so carefully asked to not sound like 'I wanna know who this song is about, Damian. Now.' you know? HAHAHAHA. Particularly the songs from OTBCOTS. You have no idea how sensitive I am about this. I'd be like,

'What does this song mean?' *weeps*

*Damian starts talking about random aspects of it not really getting into the deeps of it but that's exactly what I would be aiming for*

*listens… by the middle of it, cries histerically anyways*

But that's just me. Anyways, I never got what 'The House Wins' is about. Is that supposed to mean something? (the phrase 'the house wins'). Is that supposed to mean something different? For not being an English native speaker maybe I'm getting this the wrong way…

Anyways, Arryn, thanks for all your nice comments, I'm glad you liked my blog! :) As you can see it's 90% OK Go and 10% random xD

It's a gambling reference.  Oftentimes, especially at casinos, the dealer is referred to as "The House," ie, the establishment that is hosting the game.  It's like the expression "drinks are on the house."  You've heard that, right?  I'm pretty sure that what Damian meant by that line was that the establishment will always win in the end.  We were feeling pretty hopeless in the US when he wrote that album, it was right around Bush's second election.

And Christel, how much do I love you for posting those links?  I have been wondering about that show.  I am disappointed that there are no shots of Damian with Brobee. ;-)
  • Gosh, this is a hard question...

Maybe I'd ask them what their favorite food is first. Then I'd ask a random question about something else.

Seriously, this is difficult- it's like when people ask me what my favorite song is. I wouldn't know where to start (with either question).

I might ask to see Damian's socks Wink. Then show him mine Laugh.
  • Thanks for those links ChristelSmile
  • Oh these pictures are simply amazing. Thanks! Also, is it just me, or is Damian's hair getting shorter every day? I liked it back when it was all long and curly, now it just makes his face look wierd.

I was so mad and so excited when I read the wikipedia, all the episodes have bands that I know and love and I got mad that they only show so many episodes in Canada, and I haven't babysitted in a while so I'm getting desperate. D:

No problem Laeticia, I love the OK Go and all the randoms!

@Silver12: Haha, there would always have to be a sock exchange, ALWAYS. And the food one is a really good one, I'd really like to know that one. Especially since Tim is such a "Food Geek".

I really, really want to know what song they performed on Yo Gabba Gabba. It couldn't have been TTSP, could it? I didn't think bands performed their own songs on YGG. Does anyone know?

And sometimes I'll come up with a brilliant question that i forget like five minutes later.

The only 'interesting' q was the "if you were a muppet, what muppet would you be" question I asked at DaVinci Days, and then a bunch of inane music related ones that I asked during  my interview...I wish I could sit down and have, like, a legit conversation with them. They're all such interesting people and the interviews that don't ask "how do you feel about treadmills blah blah blah treadmills treadmills treadmills" are always so great.
  • Oh I know,

I feel bad for them, I mean, do you know how repititive that would get? D: Oh, that would be a dream come true to interview them.

    Have you before?
