MySpace Is Dead

edited November -1 in General Discussion
MySpace seems to have eaten all of our profiles and is dying. Maybe because they keep getting sued, maybe it's because God has finally killed the devil's invention. **shrugs** Are you enjoying this new found freedom?

  • It went down originally so they could update the movie players to Quicktime 9. There was a bug/spyware type thingy being passed through myspace vids to people using IE.
Now it's just one error after another, so it's pretty much dead.
  • how will i become popular now?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  • it seems to be working properly for me now...

    i spoke too soon...
  • I'm all twitchy.

"WHAT. I NEED TO CHECK MY COMMENTS. Oh god. OH GOD."

    Awww addiciton.

Well, I can view my page outside of MySpace- like, I went to myspace.com/katwai, and my page came back, so you can check to see if you have comments that way, you just can't respond.
  • The problem lies in the fact that my page is set to friends-only. So, if I'm not logged in, I can't see it.

It was about time I joined the real world again, anyway.

Ouch. Well, I'm open to stalkers viewing my page at all hours, so I don't have that problem. wink.gif

I don't believe you're my MySpace friend, actually.....unless we friended each other and I've completely forgotten...
  • I don't think we are!

    This fact should change.
  • It should!

But not right now, 'cause MySpace won't let us. tongue.gif
  • Yeah, I was just thinking, "how come I never see any of us talking to Amy on MySpace..."
  • I'm just incredibly shy about the entire thing. Seriously, it takes me so much courage to try and friend someone on myspace/facebook becasuse I get all flustered.

Oh, neurosis, how you fuck with me.
  • YOU NEED TO BE MY FACEBOOK FRIEND TOO!
  • But I'd need your whole name to look you up.

Facebook is fast becoming my new addiciton, esp. since I'm really proud of myself for starting an inside joke with the soon-to-be new dormmates in Montreal. (I jokingly said, "fuck this. I'm becoming a hobo." Next time I logged in, I was invited to be a part of the "McGill Hobo Team." Awesome, awesome people.)
  • I want to go to McGill so bad.

I'm so flippin' excited, I won't lie. My dorm room is going to be a pretty much open place for people to crash. So, if anyone feels like McGilling it up, you have an open free room invitation (assuming I haven't gotten lost in the cold and frozen my ass off/decided to become a roadie).
  • Are the dorm rooms nice and everything? Allure me with tales of McGill! My mom says I shouldn't go because it would be hard to find my way around without knowing French. I've only been taught French since preschool..

Are you serious?! That's the worst excuse ever. There are so many kids who don't know a lick of French and wander around in an anglophone haze. I think knowing French will add to the experience, as trite as that sounds. I know enough to get by (I somehow managed to survive AP French. God knows how... damn conditonelle passe) and I plan on practicing as much as I can.

The dorms are alright. I'm in Solin, which is a couple of Subway stops away from the main campus. It's near Atwater market and the building is an old chocolate factory. Most of the rooms (not only in Solin, but in all others excluding New Rez) are singles, which was a real selling point for me. However, since I'm so far from campus, I don't have a typical dorm cafeteria. Instead, we have an appartment-like setup, with a bunch of single rooms, a little suite/common room, and a kitchen that's shared by everyone in that particular suite. Atwater market is right down the road and full of all sorts of goodies. Admitedly, I can't cook, so this should be a learning (read: learn how to starve) experience for me.

The other dorms are New Rez, MORE housing, Douglas Hall, Royal Victoria College (RVC), Upper Rez (which includes Molson, McConnel, and Gardner dorms), and Greenbriar. Greenbriar and MORE are practically apartments near campus. I don't know too much about them except they too have kitchens and are basically apartments. Upper Rez are the a-typical box dorms. They're called "upper rez" because they're uphill from the campus (a bitch during the winter). Douglis up the hill and looks like Hogwarts. RVC is the all-girls dorm and is right across from the main campus. New Rez is considered "snooty" by everyone not in it because it is a renovated hotel. So, it still looks like a hotel (bedding, curtains, everything).

    Whoa... that was long.

Ok, now, why am I going to Montreal? It's a FUCKING AWESOME CITY with amazing people and an amazing music scene to boot (and an 18-year-old drinking age). I'm nervous as hell, but also so excited. It's just weird that I'm leaving behind my best friends. I kind of expect them to come with me. Scary. Scaryscaryscary (but exciting. I'm being all girly and looking at long coats and sweaters to buy. I'm looking for a plaid-ish 3/4 coat and many many manymanymany scarves and big boots.)
  • *saves to use later in inevitable argument with mom*

Thank you so much! Now I actually have reasons other than, "Well..well...RUFUS WAINWRIGHT WENT THERE!!!"
  • to tell you the truth. i think its sad that now theres myspace mobile. why would you need to approve people you dont know on the go?
i really dont want 30 to 48 yr olds as friends.
myspace should only be used to keep in touch with people who live far away, and learn about new bands.

I'm a rather big fan of this plaid coat:

If you can find it anywhere with the gorgeous man still in it (along with his gorgeous ladyfriend), let me know, 'cause I've been searching for ages.
