He proposed to her by working with Will Shortz, the crossword editor at The New York Times, and together they created a puzzle that popped the question.

  • I wish the ticket were Stewart Colbert 08. All I'm sayin...
  • awwwwwh that proposal must have been amazing...

Tabetha, I totally agree... although if Colbert insists on keeping to his show personality, that would be really odd. Like, REALLY odd.
oooh, d'you think they'd make John Oliver the British Ambassador?? That guy is great (and I know you think so too, haha)

(btw, Andy, way to spell Genius with an "o".... yay British people!)
  • jon stewart rocks my socks.
  • I've been religiously watching Daily Show for the last four-ish years. smile.gif Jon is my hero.
    And Colbert.... is just awesome.
  • My mom got tickets to see the Colbert Report live (we live about an hour away from the city). I was insanely jealous because I happened to be in Montreal, but my roommates and I scurried downstairs to our rez's basement to watch the show the day my mom was in the audience. I remember watching it and hearing her laugh (which, like mine, is pretty noticeable) and just feeling happy because whenever she would laugh, it would make me laugh harder. I called her up the next day and chatted about it as she gushed about Colbert (she has loved him since watching his roast of Bush at the White House Correspondents' Dinner).

    I have a pretty kick-ass mama.

makes me sad that im missing out
  • oh how I heart Jon and Stephen!

Fel and I used to have a traditon of always watching Jon and making a cup of hot chocolate everynight in highschool.

Carell was genius on it as well. I miss Helms. But LOVE when Demetri's on it.

Do not even get me STARTED on Demetri Martin!!! DietPepsiDrunk is going to see him in a couple of weeks... I'm sick with jealousy!

Also, I'm proud to say I've been a Jon Stewart fan for YEARS, from like back in the day when Comedy Central had a show called Short Attention Span Theatre, his first half-hour show on MTV, and his late-night talk show. Aw, my college years... I'm so happy he's finally achieved the acclaim he deserves.

^^Hey, that sounded a bit braggy when I proofread it. I didn't intend it that way; I'm just glad I've been around to see his career blossom.

Is anybody a fan of Stephen Colbert's from Strangers with Candy? He cracked me up on that show!

I love Amy Sedaris so much. Soooo much

She's a hoot! She's also adorable but tries to cover it up. Have you read any of her brother's stuff? He's written about that specifically, about how one time she came to visit wearing JUST THE BOTTOM of a fat suit. Another time she had make-up on to make it look like she had a black eye! Sick and twisted and I love it!
  • Oh my god I am in love with David Sedaris. However, listening to his live stuff is SO much better than simply reading his books (you know this is saying a lot as his books are a riot). If you go to the This American Life website (www.thisamericanlife.com), the most recent podcast has him reading his story from Me Talk Pretty One Day (I think?) about his brief period of being a performance artist. Ammmaaaazing.

Is that the one with the chicken wire? Sometimes I'll throw that into conversations to see if anyone gets it. So far, only my best friend has, which would partially explain why she's my best friend. I was lucky enough to go to a reading he did at a nearby university, and, yes, the voice boosts the stories to the nth degree, especially when he's talking about "the Rooster"! You know, sometimes you really do have to say, "Fuck it," and have some candy!
  • 'a' daily show is a very fun new show...i miss 'the' daily show though..

  • Um so my brother went to the taping of the Daily Show yesterday and called me immediately after he got out and was like that was amazing. And I was online for the OK Go show, so I told him I wouldn't be home to watch it, so he just told me what happened and it blew my mind.
