I also got a letter from Cambridge, and another email from a different university that i applied to. It's all coming together now. But I have to buy a woman's suit (pencil skirt, maybe?) to wear to interviews!! Eeeek!!!
That's so exciting! And you absolutely should get a pencil skirt. It was just Carleton U, though. Kind of my last chance option, hahaha. What did the letter from Cambridge say?
Oooo, but at least that's sort of like a back-up, right? YAY! Congrats my little well-educated sailor woman! My back-up is the only one who hasn't got back to me, typical!!
The letter just acknowledged that they had received my application and they sent me ANOTHER form for me to give in to give more information. I'll be hearing from them about interviews sometime in November... Ahhhh!!
And I'm going shopping soon for suit-type stuff. Any ideas, people?

Yes, love. Skirts should go to the knee and no shorter (yeah, I know, no fun). Go with something very conservative - navy, black, or gray, maybe pinstriped - for your suit itself, and you can add color with a nice shell or button-down.
I AM USING CAPS BECAUSE THIS IS IMPORTANT AND OH MY GOD I THINK I JUST ABOUT EXPLODED.
This December-January in New York Samuel Beckett is presenting 4 of his shorts. The main actor? Mikhail Baryshnikov. The composer? Philip Glass.
To say that I love any one of them would be an extreme understatement. I think I've read Endgame/Waiting for Godot/Play at least 10 times each. I adore them. I listen to portions of Glass' Einstein on the Beach before every audition that I have. And Mikhail? He's just extremely sexy, I don't care if he's old. I love the older men anyway, so what's the use in pretending otherwise?
THEY'RE PERFORMING ACT WITHOUT WORDS. OH MY GOD.
Oh my god I have to get tickets. Oh my god they are so beyond worth it. Oh my god why can't I start a sentence without writing "oh my god?"
I'm hyperventilating. I need to see this. There is no doubt in my mind.

You know, I saw Endgame (or Fin de partie, if you will) while I was in France, and I really didn't care for it. In fact, I got really bored and zoned out for parts. :S
But then again, I'm not really a big fan of Beckett. I feel like that's more your thing than mine.
Haha yeaaaah. I really am into minutia (as has been pointed out by my boyfriend on multiple occasions. Example: My loves for absurdist/minimalist theatre, Philip Glass, why I actually find econ interesting, and books like "House of Leaves"). I love dissecting the piece and figuring out what's going on. I love Beckett's style: the quick, sometimes seemingly nonsensical phrases, the repetition (also why I love Philip Glass).
Most people don't like Beckett at all for the same reasons I love him. Back in the day, I saw a high school put up Endgame for the Connecticut Drama Association Festival. Honestly, it was fantastic. We were watching it at around 9 in the morning (not a good time to watch a Beckett play). I just remember being so entranced. Not to mention that the guy playing Nag was fantastic.
Yeah, the things I find interesting often vary very much from what the general population finds interesting.
soooo... east lansing, where i live, had about 6-7 tornado warnings last night. the first when i was leaving the library at 730pm, the storm sirens started going off, and were continually throughout the night going off til' about 1am... storms are great, tornados are not. none actually touched down in EL but they did in some of the surrounding areas doing some serious damage. it killed our power at some point while we were gone, but when we got home we had no internet or cable so i had NO fucking CLUE what was going on, i could just hear the sirens, and then police/firetruck sirens started up. awesome.

I have been terrified by tornadoes since I very early age (I wanted to be a meterologist but I was scared of the weather at the same time...figure that one out), and sometime in early July, we had a tornado warning out here in Jersey. It was actually the same storm that spawned the tornado in Brooklyn- the storm started out in PA, hit our area around 1 am, and then by the time the bulk of the storm got here around 3:30, it went from "severe t-storm warning" to "tornado warning" for High Bridge, NJ, which you can see from my parents' bedroom window. So I freaked and dragged my family down into the basement, haha. Of course, the storm traveled all the way across the state and didn't spawn a tornado until it hit Brooklyn. Luckily, I didn't go into work the next day, because 19 of the 23 subway lines were down for part of the morning...
There was another tornado warning for...Long Island, maybe? Somewhere out closer or in New York, just recently.
The weather is all messed up lately. Damn global warming.

vampire broccolis just attacked my zombie marshmellows!
Oh of course of course. That is what I meant.
I ended up not, because yeah, knowing me I'd forget, and I'd be upset if I thought I had something in there and it was gone.
Although that stuff has been in there for a while. I doubt anyone would've noticed. I decided I wanted the chow mein!!
Which university, love?

I was hoping I could go for a black pencil skirt and a dark purple blouse (it looks cool with red hair).
What do you think, Mrs Weasley?

As long as the skirt's long enough, it sounds almost as gorgeous as you.

Can anyone explain how to use quotes?? It's simply not working for me...
Yesterday I found a button that says "GET OVER IT!" ... which made my day...

At the bottom of the post you want to respond to, click the "Quote" button once and then hit "Reply."
It'll take you to the text box where you normally write your posts, and you just type underneath the quote.
