  • wowww.
sounds like fun! I wish i could see Jack's Mannequin..or 60 seconds of the hush sound..
  • I was a total celebrity at Silverstein last night! My friend Tracy and I are homies with this show promoter and so we were on the guestlist for the show. So we were waiting outside choking back laughter at the most hilarious assembley of scene and emo kids we had ever seen, who freaked out like Claymates every time one of the band members would walk by. All of a sudden, Mark, the promoter walked by and was like "AW FUCK YEAH IT'S KAY AND TRACY!" so everybody stared at us while we talked to him and then he was like "You guys wanna just go in now?" and starts parting the sea of idiots and escorting us to the door like we're Paris Hilton. We got so many dirty looks..and then we ate spaghetti with the bands before they went on.

Um Copeland (who was reallllllly good)
and Daphe Loves Derby (who wasn't goooood)
I'm quite bummed because I caught only about 60 seconds of the hush sound. I didn't think theyd' start on time (the venue never does) and I didnt think the hush sound would be first.
    But Jack's mannequin was ammmmmazing

Yeah Copeland is really really good live, and I'm so glad you liked JM. What about DLD didn't you like?

I don't know, it was just BORING to me. Nothing about their performance was appealing. To me, they didn't have great stage presence, and the music was nothing special. The music might've been good, but not a kind that you could be blown away with in a live performance.

Really? I HATED the music when I saw DLD (the fact that the equipment was horrible may have contributed to this, but it was like nails on a chalkboard), but the guys were great. The lead singer jumped off the stage and went running into the audience to play follow the leader. It was kind of fun in that way.

I saw Ratatat at Saints Showbar yesterday. Holy good FUCK it was amazing. The music is alright (all instrumentals for those who aren't familiar. It's a synth, a guitar, and a bass. That's it), but they brought out a smoke machine, these stadium-esque/stobe light things that the bassist would step on and it would just blind us in time with the music, and a projection system that played various images in time with the music.

I was up against the stage and pilfered the set list before the encore. Everyone was already shouting for more and they came out to play a song called "Seventeen Years" which, as per the reaction, is everyones' (including my) favorite song. The whole place was just undulating with dancing kids moving in time with the music and muscians. It was fucking amazing. I highly recommend seeing them before the indiefucks make them huge through word of mouth.

My friend bought me a ticket for that in Austin, but I couldn't come down. I think it's in a week, and I am sad.

However, I'm going to WAS/Art Brut soon, so it's ok.
