  • Now I'm starting to have dreams w/ the Monkees in them. I had a dream I met Donny Osmond at school of all places. Now, my school does have a lot of Mormon students, but none of them are famous 1970s teen idols. He invited me to dinner w/ him, Micky Dolenz, and Peter Tork. At dinner, Donny was gone. He went to have dinner in the next room w/ a set of opera singers (for real, my dreams are nuts). Micky was acting silly and couldn't wait for us to finish eating so that we could all go to the Davy Jones concert. blink.gif

(Electra and Jaded as fellow Monkees fans, I think you're the only ones who could even understand all that laugh.gif )

Lol, I know! Donny decided to step in instead. I guess Mike was busy saving the Texas Prarie Chicken

Ah, I saw that your name is Alice, but didn't know if it'd be ok to call you that. Electra is a cool sn though. wink.gif

    Hahaha!!
I used to watch the TV series when I was little, but I barely remember them... I remember them running through a hospital while "Stepping Stone" was playing.
Oh I'm so jealous of you seeing Davy Jones... *sigh*

Of course you can call me Alice! smile.gif
Thanks - Electra's my middle name.

Dang, you're parents are cool to give you a middle name like that!

Yes, yes, that hospital thing is from an actual ep! Good memory. I'm still in shock to be able to see Davy Jones. Whenever I hear a monkees song or see some pics of them, I start to squeal. Well, you'll be there in spirit. If I get some good pics or stories, I'll be sure to share them. I'm making my t-shirt tonite. Gonna put just what you said on it about being here for my birthday kiss! Great suggestion. tongue.gif
  • ^^ Hehe. Yeah my parents are pretty cool. One of my sisters' middle name is Astra too. happy.gif

Haha! I'd be like that too! When I was younger my favorite film was "Head" as well, it's brilliant! I think we may have it on DVD now...

Yes! I shall be there, screaming along in spirit! Oooo glad you liked the suggestion, I hope he at least blows you a kiss from the stage! What color did you decide?

I want a cool middle name too! Such as: Vertigo or Mercury. I once met a girl named Phoenix and she lives in Phoenix. It was kind of funny asking her her name. She'd say "Phoenix" and I'd say, no I know you're in Phoenix, but what's your name? It was like an old Laurel and Hardy routine.

Yes, "Head" is very artistic! The Monkees' contribution to pop culture and psychedelia is so underrated. They made Jimmy Hendricks and Frank Zappa famous.

Well, deciding on the perfect color was tough. I wanted something eye-catching, but not blinding. Cute but not cutesy. Sexy but something that would fit in at an out-door sporting event rather than a nite time rock concert. Some colors weren't available or weren't in my size. I've narrowed it down to a navy blue, eggplant, or bright pink. I'm leaning toward the pink, as that's the color of the concert ticket, so it seems to fit well.

My dad wanted to make my other sister's middle name Venus, but as I pointed out, that rhymes with Penis. Which could cause problems at school.... Haha! I get a lot of "Oh, so you're, like, a porn star??" with Electra as it is...

Exactly! The Monkees changed things, baby!! Oh yeah, wasn't Frank Zappa the guy with the donkey (or something like that...)?

I love the amount of thought you've put into this. And I agree - go for the pink. Or possibly eggplant (I told you - purple's calling out to me for some reason....).

Ooo, Venus. That's the name of a woman's shaver here, but it is a cool name. Too bad it has to rhyme so well!

Yeps, Frank Zappa had a cow with him:

(Oh man, no one is going to understand that clip at all laugh.gif

Lol, yeah, that's where I am right now: eggplant or pink. I scream when I see pics of him now, which is not totally like me. Now I'm afraid at the concert that I might cry or scream pathetically like that lame little girl who cried at Sanjaya's performance on "American Idol." Then again, her crying was pathetic cause come on, it was Sanjaya! At least my puddle of emotion would be merited. Oh, wait, forgot Alice is a Brit. You probably don't even know who Sanjaya is. He's this lame scrawny little guy who doesn't sing very well, and yet every week he somehow makes it on "American Idol." During one performance there was a little girl who was actually crying at Sanjaya. It was probably either a publicity stunt or her sadness that this thing could make it this far on "American Idol."

Anyway, I don't really cry at concerts or weddings so I hope I won't start now!
  • *randomly butts into conversation...*

Alice, your middle name is AWESOME. i totally hate mine - with a middle name like Dana, i'm stuck with a first and a middle name that nobody has ever heard/can pronounce...

edit: ^ oh, i've heard Sanjiya once before i think - he sang a john mayer song once, didnt he? (which, lets face it, is the only reason id've heard him before..). as far as i can remember, he totally murdered it. i'm not exactly a fan. that one performance of his that i have heard was almost enough to enduce tears...

    sorry, i'm interrupting again...laugh.gif

Lol, hi crashtheparty! Ooo, you're British too? Man, I wanna be British. The way you speak is just beautiful. Very musical. Would you believe I don't have a middle name?
  • I have two middle names! Alexandra and Mun Yi. Or however you spell that in roman characters... blink.gif

Lol, wow, that one statement summed up Sanjaya beautifully. DOWN WITH SANJAYA!! mad.gif

I've heard rumors that Howard Stern is purposefully having his callers call in to vote for Sanjaya just to keep him in the competition and annoy Simon Cowell

heya! you can call me ellie, btw. or el, or any other variation of ellie, or yael, if you insist on going by full names. i totally hate my full name, though...biggrin.gif

lol, i find the british accent so dull - but i guess everyone thinks that about their accent. every time i'm in the states, i get people at the till in supermarkets or whatever all the time being like "omg, you're english?! say something!" - which i find pretty funny, 'cause i find the american accent so much cooler than the british one..

i know plenty people without a middle name - i hate mine, and i pretty much never let people know it, so most people just think i dont have one, too..laugh.gif

Is Yael a Hebrew name? Oh no, the British accent is marvelous. The American one is lame. I'm from the East Coast, but now I live in the West. Sometimes people will ask me to say "coffee," "water," or "dog" because they insist I say it differently. I know how an east coast accent can sound, but I don't think I have one, or if I do it's incredibly subtle.
  • yeah, it's an israeli name. my dad was kinda obsessed with them - he named my sisters tamar and merav. my mum wanted to call me talia, which wouldve saved a LOT of pronounciation issues..

oo, whereabouts on the west coast do you live? my dad/sisters/stepmum live in Cali, so i spend a month there every summer. i love it!

haha, i have mixed feelings about Simon Cowell, but that's pretty funny/unfair if it's true.

and oh god, he did do a john mayer song. i guess the only thing i can commend him on is his taste in music, then...
  • but there are so many different american accents ya know? and no one thinks they have one. like i'm from new york and if you go somewhere south or something, people are like "you're from new york. i can tell by your accent." yet i don't think that i really have an accent.

see i'm terrible at doing that - i'm always amazed when i'm in america and two people from different states can tell where the other is from by their accents. i just dont pick up on it. i was in Warwick a few days ago (i.e. further north/south of where i live - i'm awful at geography biggrin.gif), and people were like "omg, you're from london? i can tell by your accent!". i had no idea i had such a strong london accent...
