It's not a common expression at all, so you totally don't need to feel bad that you don't know it. I think it's just completely open to interpretation. "A fix" is sometimes used to refer to satisfying a craving or addiction or just getting something that you often want. I guess you could say that "the fix is in" means that in our culture, it's popular to be addicted to things (or something like that...) Anyone else have any way to explain that? I don't know if I made much sense...

Per the MSN Encarta dictionary: the fix is in - the case or other matter has already been dishonestly decided, e.g. by the use of bribes (slang)

That's the context I picked up from the song but hey, I'll listen again. Maybe they are talkin' 'bout shooting up horse. Interesting side note -- when I Googled this phrase, here's the number 1 hit:

Do you think a certain house band for a certain public radio show might have been subliminally (or liminally) influenced by this episode?
  • I noticed that too!
  • haha nice. I used urban dictionary cause I couldn't think about how to define it. lol, possibly why I got the drug answer. I forgot about fixing elections and all that jazz...

April of 2005. It was for an issue of Jane magazine with an article called "The 11 People You Want To See Naked Right Now - Right Where You Want Them ."

What comes to mind when you look in a full-length mirror?
    "Skinny. White ass."

It's in the June/July issue of Jane, if anyone is interested. smile.gif I was THISCLOSE to taking the mag to the Cincin show this past weekend for him to sign, and I chickened out.

EDIT: Oh and fix is usually used in reference to drugs, ie. I need a fix = I need to shoot some heroin right now.

Thank you all so much for searching this for me. I got what it means, i hope that I've translated right the expression. "the fix is in" is the hardest song to translate in the hole ok go album (i know cause i've already done it). thanks to you, the oxford dictionary and the urban dictionary, I think that I finally made it right!
Thank you so much once again laugh.gif

*bwaaahahahaha!* That is definitely something I would have done. If I had brought the mag with me, but hadn't managed to grab a setlist, that naked picture would have been the only thing that Dan could have signed (since he is the only one I got to meet). And then I would have locked myself in my dorm for all eternity.

Thank you very much for the welcome! biggrin.gif I feel all warm and snuggly now.

  • Hi, I'm new and have a little question. Does anyone have a link (or can make a link) to downloadable versions of the 'What to Do' and 'Invincible' video clips. I've had a good look through all the old threads and it seems the old links have expired.

Also, thank you to the okgosongs-account maker! You have no idea how long I'd been looking for some of those songs.

    *bump*

Someone do this for Lissy, I'd do it but I can't get an internet connection in my room, and I don't have any power to my laptop outside of my room.
  • All right, kids. What number did "Get Over It" get to on the UK charts? I'm 99% sure it got up to a significant spot, and I've got a bunch of 30-year-olds on the JC arguing with me that it didn't...
  • According to the OK Go wikipedia [OK Go], "Get Over It" rose to #21 on the UK singles chart. Granted...this is wikipedia, so you can't treat it as an absolute truth, but in this case I would say it would be safe to assume it was accurate.
  • i updated that on the wiki

some tool put it got number one

OH. That explains it. I thought I'd read somewhere that it got up that high or something, which is why I was using that against said moms arguing with me. Right then.
  • I'm pretty sure Damian said it reached 1 on the heat seakers chart back in the day.
  • ^^ yeah, but i'm pretty sure that's a US chart
