i got a new cell phone, and accidentally set the language to portuguese and don't know how to change it back to english... so, anyone want to teach me portuguese?!?
HAHAHA, okay. Between Mia and I, we should get it figured out. Anything you need to know in particular?
So, I just waited 5 hours out in the cold of the Montreal winter from 5 am to 10 am in order to get tickets to the otherwise sold out Arcade Fire show.
They were selling 50. I was number 37. HELL YEAH ARCADE FIRE TONIGHT!
also My bank has a new card called "SCENE" every time you make a transaction you get "Scene Points" I so want this card!
HAHAHAHAHHA. That is amazing.
I haven't heard the new album yet. I've felt guilty ever since downloading the Crane Wife early (but i made up for it by going to the Decemberists show, so I guess I'm supporting them somehow?), so I decided against Neon Bible.
Holy fuck what an amazing concert. You know how there are almost two types of good concerts? There are the really fun kind where you have a blast dancing and flailing and whatnot and then there are the kind that, for lack of a better word, are almost transcendental? The Arcade Fire was the latter. They opened with mostly new songs from Neon Bible. One of them made me feel all tingly in the way that only the Arcade Fire makes me feel.
But oh my god when they played Power Out.... everyone erupted and it was all the layers of noise and clapping and shouting "WE FOUND THE LIGHT." You know when you feel that tingling on the nape of your neck, right in your spine moves from the "neck" portion to the "upper back" portion, i.e. the vertebrae between your shoulder blades? I felt that during some of the other songs (namely whatever the third song they played in was... from Neon Bible and something referencing dreams and travel or something oscure yet uplifting in a way I can't describe but in the way that I wanted it to go on forever), but it was so strong during Power Out. The same for "Rebellion (Lies)" and "Nieghborhood #1 (Tunnels)". Same feeling of being lifted up by the nape of my neck, the beat, the violin, the chaos and the dancing on the stage and literally in the aisle, the people craning necks and swaying and shouting LIES LIES. We hummed the tune from the chorus of Rebellion to call for the encore.
Oh god, I'm so prosaic but I could care less.
My friend and I left and it was snowing, lightly and quiet, hipsters dispersing, wide-eyed, some chatty, or quiet, inside shouting WE FOUND THE LIGHT
(oh and the Books are coming in April. I squealed and danced)
Sounds so fun/spiritual. I can't believe I've never seen them live.

You use the points to get free movie tickets. I may just have to suscribe.
The hilarity to owning a Scene card is worth it in itself.
