i suppose one could say they put on a great live show as their singer gets into her thing, but i don't care for their music or their style--shameless invitations and stage antics...but at least she tells the audience they're a dirty band.
  • umm, on May 7th I'm going to see a festival with (among others):

Motion City Soundtrack, MC Lars, Sugarcult (!!), The Matches (!!), 33 West, Rude Buddha, Adam Richman, Cartel, Amber Pacific, Driving East, Hidden in Plain View, Over It, Mae, Relient K, The Spill Canvas, and Silverstein
  • sugercult aye? i loooove memory by them, it was on one of my games

the rest of there stuff that great?

Well, with a name like Morningwood, it's kind of implied. I like their music, it's bouncy and easily sung to.

I loooove Sugarcult. This'll be the 4th time I've seen them--I saw them in 2001 and met the lead singer and the old drummer, and they are so cool to talk to. They make me so happy.

I really like The Matches (like, A LOT), and 33 West and Rude Buddha are two random local bands I like and I've seen a bunch. The rest aren't bad, but I'm mainly going for those 4 bands and The Spill Canvas.

Oh, man, Sugarcult! I haven't listened to their stuff in a while (mainly because it's not on this computer), but I really really like them.

true, but i can't personally find any quality in the music or vocals so it makes it worse to me. of course that's only my opinion and i understand that other people find their music fun.

if you're curious, let me just tell you one of the things that happened during the show, which topped off their set: she invited people to take off their clothes on stage and two boys jumped up there. one was completely naked and she danced and made out with him, while the other did a strip tease. i'm pretty sure they were minors too, cuz i recall at least one X on the hand and don't recall seeing any 21+ wrist bands...whatever floats yer boat, i guess.
  • Well, the song is called Take Off Your Clothes. It's just a fun thing they do at every show. I read somewhere that Chantal sees it as one of the most empowering things she could do as a female band leader. I dunno, I've never seen them live or anything.
  • seducing boys does create an empowering feeling, i suppose.
heh. again, i understand that other people might enjoy their music and their kind of show, but i don't. i've seen them twice now and i've tried listening to the album. i tell people that if they already like morningwood's music, then they will probably like their show. ok, i'm done.

ohmy.gif That's kinda grose and weird. Kissing should not be something you do to someone for an audience. They have lost a lot of my respect.
  • I get to go to Jazz Fest this weekend!! Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Yolanda Adams, Rebirth Jazz Band, The Meters, and a ton of other zydeco, cajun, and jazz performers that ya'll probably haven't heard of. I'm so excited!!!!
  • im seeing taking back sunday twise in a matter of weeks

seeing them on the 22nd or 23rd next month as well as this weekend at emo'fest
  • I saw The Kaiser Cheifs on Friday night. All my other planned gigs fell through haha. But it was very much fun, would've been better if I had my converse on and wasn't worried about getting trodden on/having to work. But yeah, still a superb night. The Pipettes and Captain (who I worked for) supported. It was Captains' biggest crowd to date, and they were very well received, which is quite exciting for them.

Oh, and anyone who ever says they like The Pipettes is immiediately getting a beating. Because they are absolutely SHITE!!!!!!!

    haha

    That's a pretty nifty list.

Umm, my list keeps changing. Here's what it looks like right now (again...'cause I feel like posting it again...)

    5/7- Dashboard in Amherst
    5/15- Goldfrapp in NYC
5/18- Lansdowne Block Party in Boston
    5/26- Scamper in Cambridge
    6/14- WAS in NYC
    6/25- OK Go in VA

All of these are really tentative, though. Like, it really depends on a lot of stuff and whether or not I have the dollars to get to these places and/or buy tickets. Oh, and Harry and the Potters are playing downtown tonight, and I have yet to decide if I'm going...
