    Not only are they disgustingly racist, as well as being so right-wing that they make George W Bush look liberal, they're now, it transpires, sexist biggots too.

    Nicholas Eriksen, former candidate for the London Assembly elections, wrote a blog claiming that rape could not be that much of an ordeal, as women enjoy sex anyway. He compared rape to "forcefeeding a woman chocolate cake", and complained about the "feminazi" movement, claiming that rape by a maan you know, for instance your husband, is just sex. Thankfully he's been removed from the London Assembly candidate list now, but he still refuses to resign.

    Wanker.

    That is truly terrifying. Us American Dems are depending on Europe to keep our right wing in check. I can't stand that word "feminazi" for which we can thank Rush Limbaugh. It's disgusting.

    Alice, that's..disgusting. Especially having the audacity to compare it to chocolate cake. I don't know much about the cake situation in Europe, but the last time I checked, it didn't violate your body and emotionally cripple women.

    I feel like a fucking incompetant dentist who can't do anything right! You're telling me I'll be getting my degree in three months? Do I really have the skills or competence to handle it? Fuck no. I'm so incredibley frustrated right now. I completely fucked up an MOD composite (sorry for the dental terminology). She's such a nice patient patient. I feel like I can't do anything right. Everytime I screw up, I learn something big and important, but it feels like it comes at such a price. I didn't destroy her tooth. I just filled it so horribley, and it's somthing I should know how to do by now. Sure, the tooth was difficult and so was this particular type of filling, but I can't stop beating myself up. I'm not going to leave the patient with a bad filling, that's not what's killing me. It's just that I feel like I've left her worse than how I started her. I told the patient that I want to bring her back and refine it more, she's totally ok with that. But I keep beating myself up about it. I feel like such a fuck-up. I feel like, god I wouldn't want that in my mouth. How could I do that? What can I do to salvage things? How in am I ever going to exist in the real world? Are you telling me, all dentists started young and fresh and clueless like this? Why does everything in the world take so much toil to get right? How am I ever going to become the skilled competent dentist I look like I am, but am not actually? Yeah, MOD composites on upper back teeth are a bitch, but I feel aweful! (MOD composite = white filling that takes up 3 sufaces of a tooth)


    (Maybe it's the beer talking, but damn, I love this thread. It's so incredibley theraputic)

    The Rape of Congo. doc by Lisa Jackson. More deaths there since WWII and yet I really don't see ppl covering it (is Africa not as interesting, American media?) A quarter of a million women raped in this war so far. I was listening to an interview of her on NPR today- brought me near to tears.

You're using these experiences to learn, you said so yourself, which means that you can only get better - to me, that shows that your a much better dentist than some complacent fuck who assumes he's going to get it right every time.

    Yeah, the headliners for the Baltimore festival were also announced - Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, Kanye West, and Jack Johnson. When I told Adam he had the SAME Reaction - "That would've been great like 10 years ago" (said in Senor Cardgage's voice). You know, with the exceptions of Kanye and Jack Johnson.
