You should be able to get most of it back as a refund, Tab.

ooo, thank you! Would that happen like a year later at tax season, or do I get to have it back right away?
  • QUOTE (Juniperberry! @ Jul 22 2008, 09:43 AM)
It's so stupid, when we talk I always have to ask 'Pardon?' because I can't hear what he's saying over my ridiculously loud heartbeat.

That was so well said. Poetic even.
  • Packing.
I hate it and everything about it. Sure, I get a good feeling when I can throw shit away that I can't believe I kept in the first place BUT... I never got myself organized when I moved into that stupid house, now I'm just lost. I hate packing, I hate moving. I can't wait to be in my new apartment and just start fresh. Start organized.

    AND...
Peter and Mark (two of the guys from Meridian) are leaving in a month or so for 3 months. on a cruise. To be the ship's "band" the entertainment if you will. I'm so sad sad.gif

    LOL....

    My complaint:
    I'm just too old, period!!
  • My dentist is on vacation. I'm so mad, cuz she made the waxy molds to model my teeth for invisaligns almost 2 months ago. Then the office called and said they emailed the results but I never got them. And now the dentist is on vacation.
I was so excited to fix my ugly, crooked front teeth and now, siiiigh, gotta wait some more.
I was supposed to get braces when I was 8. It's now more than a decade later, so I guess waiting a few weeks more won't hurt.
  • u4ktwaedfsjzhfkaerdfzkgrgsfkhx

the friend I was going into Boston with is now sick.

and I have no one to go with.

But I still HAVE to go. like, HAVE TO. it's the Mudbloods. there is no explanation of how epicly amazing they are. Seriously.

    aaaaaaaaagggghhhhhhhhh
  • The fact that lots of work all of sudden comes up at the same time... mad.gif sad.gif
  • my whole body aches
    and hurts sad.gif
    and on top of that
on myspace i had added a guy who works as a lifeguard at the pool who happened to know one of my good friends. then i sent him a message which he read and didn't answer and then i wake up this morning, get on the computer, and he has deleted his myspace. ohmy.gif so now im hoping it wasn't because of me and him thinking im a creepy stalker or something. dry.gif
  • A 100 yr old lady who I didn't know told me today at the mall that shirt would look nice on me becuase I'm pregnant. I am not pregnant. No more empire waists. Trips to the gym needed. Total Bridget Jones moment. Go die old lady.
  • I really, really hate my teeth. I mean, they really embarrass me and since I was 13, I've covered my mouth when I laugh b/c I don't want anyone to see my teeth- but ppl notice their ugliness anyway (I've asked).
I should've got braces when I was 8, or, the dentist recommended pushing my teeth forward with sliced tongue depressor things every day. I never did use the stick things and I never did get braces and my teeth got worse and worse, and it didn't help that I played the clarinet (an instrument that requires teeth contact) for 10 years.

So, finally, my mother has agreed to let me get Invisalign, and we did the wax moldings, and the dentist sent me the images. But since the main, blaring problem is that the two front top teeth are crooked, my mother wants to only pay for the upper arch. But if we don't correct the lower arch too, the top and bottom won't touch like they're supposed to. The dentist said ppl won't notice, but I'm horrified...
I hate that I look like a hick, and if we don't fix my teeth completely, what's the point? I'll still be embarrassed for the rest of my life. But there's no way I can get my mother to pay for the lower arch, and I just don't have enough of my own money to pay for it myself. And she already put money down to get the moldings analyzed.

I just really hate my ugly teeth so much!!!!!!! Every day I feel like taking a wrench to my mouth.

And! I hate when my snide sister says "You should be happy with what God gave you." She can say that to me b/c she knows she has absolutely perfect, Hollywood beautiful teeth, gah! It's not fair! We have the same parents! I hate being the ugly sister and she just rubs it in. I wanna punch her one of these days.
  • Aww sad.gif Well, I hope your teeth end up looking great anyway. I don't like my teeth either. And I almost got them fixed several times during Elementary School. I really wish I did, too. Cuz then once I got into Middle School, I got seriously involved in music and playing the trumpet, which involves pressing a really hard mouthpiece against my mouth and if I got braces, then it would hurt really bad and also hinder my playing ability. And I was really involved with band and I really didn't want to ruin my music playing ability. Because once you get braces, you basically have to learn how to play all over again, and the same thing when you finally get them off. And the further along in school that I got, the more involved in band I got. So, I've been stuck with my teeth, too dry.gif

I hate that the whole empire waist thing is in this season! I've always hated that style. Don't worry. One of my classmates who's thin and gorgeous enough to be a model has the same problem with empire waists. Plus, that old woman sounds rather senile. Seriously, you're not even old enough to be considered a mother!

My poor poor lovely frustrated Gidget! Is there anyway to encourage your mother to have both arches done? What if the next time you have a job, you offer to take part of the salary and pay her back little by little. Whether it's through Invisalign or through actual Braces, people have a tendancy to feel moving the teeth is simply for esthetics. However, moving the teeth really has more to do with function, comfort, and being able to clean the teeth effectively. Discuss with your mother that although the look of your teeth is important to you, being able to chew, speak, and keep your teeth clean are important to you as well; having straighter teeth on top and bottom would enable you to chew and brush better. My mother ending up getting braces even though her front teeth looked good when she smiled. She did it because her bottom back teeth caused her to bite on her cheek whenever she chewed. (Invisalign wasn't around in the early 90s)

If you live near Boston University, it might be worth getting a screening at their dental school's orthodontic program. Dental schools charge half the fee of outside dentists. This is if you are willing to go through actual braces and orthodontic work. Teeth have a tendancy to shift back to the place their comfortable. Braces will better align your teeth in a more stable postion. However, cost and time are a concern. You can have braces done later on, I just wanted to throw out the option.

I'm trying that, but it would have to be tiny by tiny by tiny by tiny instead of little by little, lol.

The thing is that my mother doesn't believe it. The way she sees it is, I've been eating all these years without a problem, so when 3 orthodontists we consulted all said my teeth are all messed up and I'd need full work, she thinks they were just trying to find a way to make the most money. One guy was like, "you need jaw surgery," and the other two were both like, "we have to remove a few teeth to make space." It sounded extreme and while they added, "otherwise, you're chewing only at one spot, which you'll wear down by the time you're old," it was all kind of scary and overwhelming and made my mother suspicious. Their quotes were, well, extremely high- like $8000. One of them had a RIDICULOUSLY high tech office, with the technology he never used anymore (like from a year ago, appearantly now obsolete) lying like trash in the corner of the floor in his office.

This last, fourth dentist is a wonderful woman who told my mother she wouldn't do anything unnecessary and wouldn't charge for anything but exactly what was needed. My mother really trusts her, so she put down the $1000 for the molding analysis. Since the $1000 is already paid, we can't go to anybody else now sad.gif

Thanks! I think I will check this out. It's too late to go to anybody else b/c of the downpayment, but it won't hurt to get a consult.

    You're the best, Tempe!

Rebekker- you pplay the trumpet? eeee, I love the trumpet! I've always wished I played it instead of the clarinet. I mean, the trumpet always sounded like a Greek god to me, so beautifully powerful. I LOVE Charlie Parker! But yes, sigh, rough on the teeth.

Aww, I completely understand your mother's apprehension. My sister was also told that teeth would need to be removed in order for her to have braces. Surgery and/or tooth removal are for highly ideal textbook treatment (esp surgery). These orthodontists have to find a way to explain what's textbook ideal and what's ideal for the patient in the chair. When they don't do this, as was the case with my sister and with your previous dentists, it causes great fear and confusion for the parent and patient. Things do not have to be done precisely ideal to get a good long-term result. The whole point of being in dentistry/medicine is that sacrifices may have to be made for the best interest of the patient.

No, it won't be for nothing. Long term, braces are better because it moves the whole tooth, rather than just the crown. However, because of your crowding, Invisalign may be a good solution since there is not a lot of room to move a whole tooth. Also, if the results are good, it may encourage you later on to actually get braces. With braces or with invisalign, after you are done, you should be aware that the teeth overtime will start to shift again. But that may take 10-15 years to happen, so don't worry. It's nature doing it's thing. Teeth are held in your jaw with ligaments. Overtime, the ligaments stretch and contract, which is why years after orthodontic work is done, teeth may get slightly crooked again. Ha, sorry, I'm getting too technical.
  • What great advice. My friend had braces and then an Invisalign retainer, but she didn't wear it every day or what not and soon it wouldn't fit her teeth. So my advice is after which ever, wear your retainer! But I'm not a pro like Tempe.
  • those invisaline ones cost an arm and a leg. i had braces late... like university... i only just fininshed wearing them, still have to wear top and bottom braces at night...

maybe you could get like cheaper metal ones for top and bottem like me... i mean thier not cheap in any sense but if your worried, comprimise on the look of the clear ones and see if you can get both top and bottom done at a bargain in a sense..

did that make sense? no? sorry its late ... night folks.
  • ...

what do you say to a friend whose mom's visa has just been revoked, meaning they basically have to live in Canada for the next five years, 8 hours away from her friends, boyfriend, school, job, everything?

    seriously

    why, America? why?

Shit, yesterday was her birthday too.

    ahrigsfuidhjgardfuzkhjahfdkjhjsfdhkjhjkdfs
  • oh wow, that is one shit b'day
  • I had braces, and you can't even tell. I had a shit orthodontist and he told me my cross bite would be corrected (for the most part) with braces and rubberbands. SO not the case. My teeth look awful, I have a crooked smile and I hate it. I hate my teeth in general. Invisalign was the road I was going to head down when I graduate college... sad.gif

p.s we don't have internet at home... the evening was when i did most of my board posting... so, that's why i've been a bit MIA
