  • The writers' strike! It actually happened!
    noooooooooooooooo
(Yes, it is E! Online, haha.)

    and nooooo some more.

This means major suckishness for me and my TV-watching schedule. If this lasts long enough, there will be no more Daily Show, Pushing Daisies, and The Office. Nooo!
  • No more Office? WAAAAH. I look forward to The Office all week! Right after it's over I start wishing another week'd go by. It's the only show I never miss, waaaaah.

And I'm so darn tired. And I still have so much darn hw to do- no matter how much I read, I'm still behind. And then I enter a vicious cycle...I just want it to be Thanksgiving already. And why am I saying "darn"?
  • Uni midterms sad.gif THEY'RE SO LONG

No more Daily Show is BLASPHEMY
  • agreed!

The writer's strike will mess everything up if it goes on long enough.

the news said that most regular evening shows will have enough scripts to last until January.
the Soaps and some sitcoms only for another month.
and the nightly talk shows (Dave Letterman, Jay Leno, etc.) are screwed immediately. The Daily Show might fall into this category, as it is daily and all sad.gif

this makes me wonder, how much of Craig Ferguson do the writers write? cause I know he improvises the monologue, I wonder if he'll be the only one with new shows or if it will affect him some other way.
Not that I ever stay up late enough during the school year to watch him.

so anyways, the only way it really affects shows like The Office, and all the other shows I really care about, is if it lasts into January.

    but still sad.
  • You know how you can be in a really good mood, and then someone comes along and ruins it?

    Yeah, I hate that. dry.gif

Why is it that as soon as one exam is over, it's time to prep for another one?

Story of my life... at least today's exam was exam #2... i have a mini-break til a paper is due, and then...

and the WG strike is freaking me out
  • I googled it and found out that Colbert and Stewart are part of the WG themselves, so there'll be nothing but repeats. So, about Ferguson, I think even if he's the one who writes/improvises his monolgues rather than a staff writing it for him, he's probly part of the guild too so there'll be repeats of his show too.

ok, um, I guess I can't c/p that table too well, lol. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-striket...=la-home-center

Here's a look at where many shows stand:

  • i feel like i'm going to dry heave. i shouldn't care about tv as much as i do... but thinking about missing the end of one of my favorite shows (Scrubs) is just unsettling. I'm so annoyed...

and i can't decide who to side with? is that bad?
  • and i have to show this...

The nets continue to play their cards close to the vest -- "You never want to imply to advertisers that there's going to be a strike," said another exec -- but look for some telltale signs that the networks are moving to cover their bases:

--They'll be ordering fewer drama and comedy pilots and more reality.

--There won't be the usual late-spring hiatus in production.

--Continuing shows will get renewed earlier, with more backup scripts ordered so production can continue past Halloween if the writers walk out.

--Shows on the bubble between renewal and cancellation will become more likely candidates for renewal because they represent a smaller gamble than betting on a new show.

--Talkshows, news and gameshows will be more likely to migrate to primetime.

--Producers will take a long, hard look at shooting non-union and outside the U.S.

ISN'T THAT ONE OF THE REASONS THEY ARE ON STRIKE NOW?!?!?!?!?!?!?! okay i changed my mind, i know who to side with...
  • After buying my ticket for Interpol, I've just found out that I'm not going to be able to see them anymore because my flight comes back THE VERY NEXT DAY!!

Aaaargh! And I've been waiting to see Interpol for ages and they'll never ever ever come back to Australia for a very long time and and and... :cries:
  • I fucking hate when sport seasons start! Like basketball. All my friends who play basketball only hang out with basketball people now. They leave you out. Then if they have boyfriends they put their boyfriends before you! SO you spend no Time with them because they always are with basketball people and when you try to talk to them all the rest of the basketball people look at you like you punched their mother in the face the other day. I HATE IT! IT PISSES ME OFF!! OR when your friend invites you to go somewhere and they invite their boyfriend too and so the whole Time they are hanging and talking to eachother when you are just left standing there looking like an IDIOT!!!! Im just so fucking frusterated right now that I am in tears!!!

    *hugs*
I wish I could pass brownies through the internet.
  • I just found out that I am severely allergic to peanuts, onions, and garlic. Long story short, I broke out in hives for a few weeks and my throat began to swell. Dr sent me to an allergist. Never in my whole life have I been told this. I'm totally bummed out as I am having to re-learn how to eat and cook now. I am sooooo jonesin' for a snickers!! It's weird the things you want when they are forbidden.
  • blink.gif

Good Lord girl! I'm glad you're ok.

And I know what you mean about forbidden fruit! I hope I never develop any food allergies. Especially gluten!!!
  • I'm having a bit of a breakdown.
Seriously, what the hell compelled me to take 21 units this quarter.
I really thought I could handle it and I'd be okay, but I feel so overwhelmed and my GPA is going to drop and then my dad won't be nice to me anymore and he won't give me money or let me go study abroad in England next summer.
I got my math midterm back today and I got a C on it. I wasn't expecting to do well on it or anything, but everyone was like oh the curve is really good I think your score is like a high B, and then i came home and checked online and no, its a fucking C.
I don't know what to do.. I don't want to withdraw from classes because I'm not going to fail any of them, but I don't think I'll get more than two As this quarter and the rest will probably be some type of B. I know this doesn't seem that bad to most of you, but it means a lot to me (and my father, to him B=F). I have a 3.8 gpa right now, and seriously even an A- brings that down.
I'm just scared and I'm trying to find that proper balance between working hard/doing well in school and still having a good college experience or whatever. I mean its not that I've been messing around this quarter - I've been working my ass off, but I'm trying to still have some fun and do extracurriculars and all that so I feel sane and not just a nerd that only does school work.

Okay I don't know where I'm going with this, I just had to get that out somewhere so I can stop crying.
  • 21 HOURS??? That is quite the load! I understand not wanting to withdrawl, but it might be a good idea.

Wow, Not 2 hours ago I was wondering where you'd been lately. I guess that answers that!
  • thanks for all that info, Tabetha. I guess it all makes sense.
sad, but I always tend to side with the ones striking. especially against the big networks, they get on my nerves. like, for example, the ones who mismanage and then cancel the best shows. *coughcough*
and Krista, that's ridiculous. tv people don't make sense.

Ambie, honey, I'm sorry you're stressing out like that. I'm almost in that situation too, or I would be, if my ap chemistry grade wasn't magically somehow an A-... but for one, this is high school and I'm a senior and I'm almost past caring... and for another, my weighted gpa (and therefore class rank) is screwed anyways because I did music all four years, and all that. I hope you get it all under control, or at least find some way to stop stressing so much.

school today was pretty sucky for me... i didn't have my english homework done, and i'm behind in the reading, my latin test was super-long and so I didn't have time to eat lunch, and then I didn't have time to study for chemistry either, plus my teacher has been absent for two weeks and comes back expecting us to take a test on a chapter he hasn't taught us, and so I probably did miserably on that test. and then for some reason I was playing flute really suckily during band, and that's when the teacher decides to spring playing assesments for our first term grades on us. of course.

eh, I'm over it now, nothing i can do. i'm really glad i'm in the mode where it's like, 'school isn't the most important thing, i'll be fine'.... but then i remember my top college choices and flip out again. if only my top was s safety school, instead of an impossible reach.
    sigh.

edit: oh, and have you ever noticed how teachers only say "you're adults, I treat you as such," when they're putting some sort of responsibility on you?
    yeah that.
  • Ah, my sister had once again decided to do her randomly-mad-at-Courtney dealios...Fifteen years of this and I'm still not used to it.
  • I think I've spent the last four hours just reading about this strike. Call me television-obsessed, but I really do care for The Daily Show and The Office. I thrive off of them.

And The Office has shut down production. So, life sucks. A lot.
  • Ambies - what kind of math class is it? Can any of us help you? Heck, can any of us help you with any of your homework?

Maybe we should just start a "please help me with my homework" thread... Then we can all help each other learn. Not like I have homework, but it would be educational nonetheless.
